It's not because of this thread, but I started a downtempo track where some sections of sounds start out with a sample or loop, then I add onto it as I go.
For example, I've got a drum loop going, then I'm adding individual percussion sounds to it and chopping the original loop. I'm also creating my pads and fx from inti patches and using samples for my leads. Not sure if I'll stick to this format completely, but it's a fun process so far (plus I don't have a good didgerdoo synth so I kind of have to use samples).
