hey guys,
i wanted to know how i would make the sound of the hihats sound like someone is shaking them like a shaker...
for example in zen mechanics-vurt (sinewave rmx) ...like in well produced full on tracks, the hihats sound like they are being shaken not hit...i hope you understood what i mean...

try some delay too instead of reverb, but dont make it delay , make it "echo" sounding with values under 70ms, then play with the feedback , add a slight and the other parameters, use small values, this should "shake" the hihats more and give them a little depth too  if you use kontakt (i adore it) put also velocity on your midi and raise the velocity on the kontakt at 55%-60% .. i hope you mean the closed "fast" hihat btw not the open one

Put a shaker loop in? I love shakers and for trance stuff I chop up loops from rain pipes. They add this earthly vibe to the top end. I've been using this stuff in techno tunes as well.

Agreed, i also just use shaker samples. Theyre pretty easy to find on the web and theres loads of different types of them. They are lovely, add a well nice body shakin vibe to the track.

why not dynamic cardioid ?? you got to aim to the throat, with some off axis should get the hole puke timbre
