I'm sorry, I hope this is a great party, but damn, man "Outside the Box" ??? That's got to be the dorkiest name I've ever heard. Is the bay area still overinfested with cubicle nerds or what??

I will keep that in mind.
People ask me why the psytrance scene has been in decline as of late and I don't know what to tell them...
I originally thought it might be a good idea to expose more people to local psytrance artists so they could see a little of what the psy scene and sound was like in order to help the scene grow and to support local artists record sales and DJs' bookings. Probably wasn't a good idea.

so hardcore is still popular in Cali? 'cause it's all but non-existent in Colorado these days. i haven't seen a hardcore/happycore party in at least 2-3 years.

Oh, yeah. There are typically 2-3 parties a month in the Bay Area with Hardcore. NorCal seems to lean more towards happy cheesecore while SoCal has a bit more of the gabber style. |

Nah man, its a good idea in the sense that it was bound to happen in any case. A lot of promoters in SF have tried to promote trance to "non-trancers", ironically so have a lot of djs.
More and more people seem to be liking psychedelic sounds (although mainly full on) so I say go for it. You have good ideas man, go with them

yeah i have to say personally im excited to play in front of some new faces, and expose some new people to our genre.
and coming from a raver / techno background as i do, i still have a bit of a soft spot for multi-genre mashups
Obu is right though alot of the cross over folks though do seem to gravitate more towards full on, but it is a more accessable form of the sound.

I use to listen to Inyoung back in the day, loved that happycore shit. Couldn't get enough. But I was turned on to psytrance(goa) after hearing it more at raves in the mid 90's. Before that I was only collecting psy here and there, while into other EDM genres.
Its always a good idea to play psytrance at a party, I dont care if its at a hip-hop club or a country western bar, fuck em.
