I miss the fests in SA, they were truly awesome!! Dont expect anything even close to that here. On the positive side though, the scene is interesting here because it is still very small and feels 'underground'. I live on the East Coast and although Cali seems to have more events, the east coast has some good ones as well.

thanks  Underground is good as well. Getting tired of the huge parties like Vort. Somehow 3000 people makes for a cramped dancefloor and claustrophobic cid trip

NYC and California are the places to go if you seek more the Mainstream Capitals in music like South Africa, some call it the American Mainstream.. The underground is everywhere, even in South Africa.. Well, it was when I was there in 2004-05. Sorta, they said they never heard my type of music before.. Taking the music out of the equation, Southern Cali fits most to the terrain and climate your familiar with most... Sun Downers, if you take in the spirits, can be had anywhere in the USA.
A breakdown in history leading to now in dealing with the original seed planted by the 13 Colonies of America in Freedom would surly create a Flame War. The American trance has a lot of trigger points but that gets below the surface and lifts a veil or two.. The American Revolution that became notice in the 60's was just a fragment and creation to pull away from truth 40 some years later. We never continued to spiritually revolt, look at our Government... I love playing with numbers. 13 tones per dimensional reality, metaphysically not so new age speaking in regards to our 13 colonial seeds... 13:20 time vs. 12:60, blah blah and more blah..
Anyway, The original American Seed of intentions and even intuition have been long forgotten by the Mainstream. Maybe the gravitational attraction will alter at 2012 for music, its very still right now per the norm...
You can find Mainstream or for better words, full-on along with the growing progressive sounds to Underground at any of the American trance hubs and/or energy centers. Stay away from the South East if you have boundaries in nasty, dirty and unearthly light bum dancing..Very humid in most parts if getting wet is an issue...

but that may have more to do with the ecstatic state of mind I'm currently in after finding out I'm holding up better than the ex after the breakup
