Hi guys
I'm new on the forum. I joined it because I am most likely moving to the US next year (I am South African) and I thought it would be a good idea to get in touch with the scene over there
I heard about isra a few years back, but I've been an active member on bomelakiesie.co.za and never had the need to join an international forum
Is there an "introduce yourself" page somewhere so that I can share all my dirty little secrets with you guys?
Also, where is the psy scene most lively in the US? It seems like NYC has the most happening scene. Yes?
I hope to get to know you guys and maybe even meet next year  |

lol welcome, that's a pretty popular question..there's thriving scenes in many areas of the united states so basically what you want to look at is what sort of climate best suits you for living, and then ask that question.

I've been to many psy parties in california and one psy party in NYC.
The main difference that struck me is that the people in NYC came off as being far more cautious and fearful of authorities, which is understandable, but also might just be because I didn't know anyone there.
California has milder weather which makes for a longer outdoor season (although New York's weather has very warm nights in the summer), and the govt. here is much more chill about many things than in any other part of the US. |

There are good and bad parts to any scene in the US, it really depends on what kind of person you are and what kind of environment you want to live in.
West coast is very laid back and friendly, good weather and plenty of parties.
East coast has a lot of variety, seems like there are more club shows in the NYC area. There's also a good number of awesome 3 days on the east coast during the summer- gaian mind summer fest, orb, world bridge just to name a few.
Midwest has a great scene, but it's younger and not as big as others. I do like the intimacy we have with this.

Welcome to the states (almost)! You're bound to find a thriving scene w/in a half days drive of wherever you move (w/ a few minor exceptions). East/West coast have larger, more established "scenes", but they aren't the only game in town. As was mentioned earlier, find a place where you can stand to live, and you'll most likely find a psytrance event nearby.

+1 for the California Psy scene... North and South.
I think that California as a whole has a very rich scene. Of course it would be nice to see it get even bigger, but in terms of quality you can't go wrong.
We have beautiful outdoor areas, and "decent" weather in even some of the "worst" times of the year. Although authorities are always an issue, it would seem that either they don't know, or don't care the majority of hte time.

I would stay in South Africa the scene here (USA) compared is pritty small.
You can and will find some great events here but as far as thousands of people all freaking out together that is rare it does happen but rarley...
There is no shortage of music or djs/producers though just not as much of the population likes and wants to dance to electronic music. Blame it on Rock and roll.
I think that you are pritty safe with either coast realy ...I'd say West IMO for sun sake. You can always travel into the midland states for festivals.
Hit me up if you end up in Denver for some reason.

You lot are friendly Thanks for the responses.
Since I'm born and bred south african, I would preferably like a similar climate.
i.e. nice warm sunny summers with temps ranging from 20-35 degrees Celsius. (I'd convert to Fahrenheit, but 1st year physics was about 3 years ago for me)
Also, the SA scene is very lively and friendly. I would love to experience that same unity and vibe on a dancefloor in the states. Nothing beats staring up at the moon at 3am from the middle of a dancefloor with 3000 people going insane around you while the psy hits parts of your body that other music fails to satisfy, leaving a silly grin on your face.
Yes Gyspynate, I am spoiled coming from the SA scene. It is absolutely amazing. But change is as good as a holiday. I'll be au pairing for a year in the states.. and I have decided that I cannot move somewhere without a lively psy scene.
The West coast is sounding most appealing to me 
As for authorities.... I've been around long enough to know to be careful
