Hey everyone.

since as far as i could tell there are *no* parties outside of africa, and there *are* people looking for them (not just me), im thinking of putting one up. only problem is, me being a traveller in the area, i need some connections and shit. SO..

anyone with any information, equipment, ideas or any sort of willingness to help let me know, either as a reply to this thread or at my email.

I'm thinking about the Malawi or Zambia area which are quiet, full of travellers, and have been known to host parties here and there...

waiting for some answers.

A party in Africa - it sounds good, but its a really bad idea my freind!

I myself have done some travelling in Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Ivory Coast)...
and I have found some beutiful locations for parties, but all the good locations are not accessable... They are in the middle of nowhere, and the transport system sux big times - like one time we drove from Arusha (tanzania) to some Crater - it was 350 KM of dirt road...

my point is, if you throw a party in Africa, it's gonna be hard getting the equipment to the location, and it's gonna be hard getting the people to the location... not to mention that this kind of party would cost you a fortune to organize...

Anyway, the only kind of event that is worth while organizing in Africa, is a Festival (a BIG festival), like "Solipse" in Zambia. After all, nobody is gonna come to the middle of nowhere, just for one party... if people are spending time and money on travelling, then they want a Festival!

Anyway, if you are thinking of throwing a party, then i would suggest South Africa as the best Alternative - it's reasonably developed, you have decent roads, plenty of travellers, and a psy community (small one...)

Bottom line is - A party in Africa will cost you tons of money, and it might turn out to be more trouble then it's worth... but if you do manage to throw a succesfull party - then it could be amazing!

OK, so about the party -

first of all, there's no date yet, this is only about the *idea* of setting up a party and aquiring information. yeah, tanzania is a bad place, because infrastructure and roads suck, but places like uganda, malawi and zambia are very easy to get around, and theres public transport everywhere almost.

about costs - they're nothing. renting and moving equipment, while not the best in the world (not even close...) is very very cheap (you rent it from locals and they carry it on their bicycles anywhere you want), and finding a place is no problem - maybe in some sort of backpacker's hostel or campsite, where you have secured grounds.

about making it a festival.. fuck guys, ive been travelling here for over 2 months and havent been to a single party - and im not alone. people will drive for half a day no problem for a decent party, and in some countries half a day can cover the whole area of the country no problem. so you dont need to make it a 4-day 200 dj festival.

hope that answers some questions... reply if you're still interested!           Why? Why not!

A tropical island not far from South Africa & Madagascar.
Friendly people, who speak fluently English & French.
