Oh - and one more thing. Invest some money in the enviroment.
The chair, the desk..
Cause what I'm using at the moment is absolutely impossible. You can ask Trip if you want..
He keeps bugging me about it.

alloahh all

oke, i ve got 2 pcs ( noise / OFFice )

as far as i know it isn t possible to set the virtuel memory to "0" (--> min. 2 )
---> w2k !!

if i m not wrong i have it @ 2 / 512 @ the moment...( i ll try 640, thnx )

further i ve optimzied it to backgroundservices ( or arie / freq: do u think it s better switch to appz ? )

seems that ppl here think that i m a bit demented, no, i m not already, i know how a pc works ;-)=, but you re right if u think that i ve got a REALLY SPINNNNING HEAD @ the moment...my work is stressing me very much, the technology won t work how it should...

for me it isn t possible to try all the settings which i like until the best result is developed...probabably many ppl here in this forum are doing "only" ( don t missunderstand me, u saved my live...) music during the day, but i can t unfortunatly...and because of that i ask such stupiq q's and share my ideas with u.
u know, sometimes also beginners (...i don t think that i am i...) can have some great ideas...

thnx 4 supprt

....ppl here... i LOVE U !!

About apps/background.
I had it on apps and I switched to background.
Things became to work slower: mouse movement, windows, cubase, everything. But it seemed like I could get the latency really low without any clicks and pops. I assume that your computer is stronger than mine, so it should be ok.

The many partitions on the same disk was an issue in the win98 days who could not see as a whole big hard disks.(if i am not mistaken i think it was more than 20gb). Nowdays ide hdisks are good value for money so you can get an extra hdisk and use one as a master for os software plug ins and the other one slave for wav loops and your saved work, if you can use 2 separate systems and dedicate one just for music is the ideal thing but if it is impossimble for you finnancially then try not to install the same apps on the separate partitions/os of the same system.
For the virtual memory specify the same number which your system reccommends.
Can anybody help me with my problem?
On my system p4 1.7, 512 ddr ,adaptec 19160 and two ibm scsi hdisks, I have a problem with one of my scsi hdisk (ibm 9gb), where when the system boots most of the times it does not give an id to the second scsi disk and it is like it is not there, if i reboot the system many times then i get a chance of the disk to be seen but still it might dissapear when i am in windows. There is no problem with my other scsi devices (ibm hdisk 18gb, plextor cdrom). Should I get a bigger power supply, or is it a matter of my disk being an older scsi protocol and does not co operate with the adapter?
I am really frustated about it and feel stupid coz with the same money could get a bigger ide drive or a gforce to play games lol.

Actually I found the solution without buying two computers - I'm working with Linux ...
But when I used Windows, I got my setup something like that ... Since I've got two hard drives (which is very recommended in any case) the fastest was used to be the System + Applications and the second partition of this hard disk is used to be virtual memory for applications. If it was big enough I've put my games there for best performance.
The second drive was used for all kinds of the stufff. like downloads and temporary documents filer.           Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

another intresting idea!:

in winxp u can create two separate login accounts with almost different configurations.

so u can have the visualy candy account and the minimal production accounts and the account for all the internet and multimedia programms to start in the task bar etc..

think about it           ***dread controls***
