I so very much want to like this album, but it simply fails to deliver anything noteworthy. Slick glamour glitter psypop is what most tracks boil down to. Rollercoaster is a track that will probably do some damage on a dancefloor, but is far from what I have come to expect from Sesto Sento. 1st Quality brings a smile to my face because of the memories it brings back of the past festival season, so in that respect it's doing something positive, but it sure isn't becasue of the quality of the track.
Disconnecting starts out promising with a driving atmosphere that gets me rather excited, only to fall down on itself without delivering anything worth mentioning. 'People' is about the biggest slice of cheese I've heard this year. Truly an epitome of fromage, and we're not talking classy castello either. 'Glory' fortunately brings the quality level up a bit, and has a delicious melody run going on that truly gets me moving. But at the end of the track I still feel it misses something. I think it's a healthy dosis of psychedelics that could've given this track a boost to separate it from the run of the mill euro fodder that's being thrown around on this album. 'Pumpkin' makes me ashamed to even consider this album psy related. This would've looked good on some euro rave compilation back in the late nineties, but is completely out of place in today's scene.
And then there's 'Frozen'. This track sees the BPM turned down a notch. And it's funny to see how well it works as the track breathes comfortably, giving the different sounds the space to evolve and do their thing. When put in comparison to the rest of the tracks in the album, this is by far the most mature of the tracks, with a more introspective feeling to it. It still has a bit of the cheese factor (lets face it, a lot actually), but it sits well, and the lack of the frantic tempo for the sake of making it work on a dancefloor is a relief. Last two minutes are totally lost on me. If this is supposed to bring a pinch of humor to the psy scene, it totally fails to hit the spot. The only humor I found here is HaKa mentioning Frozen Dreams as a 'serious' track |

Had another listen at home and have definitely been able to see the cheesyness in this, no doubt. It's weird, maybe it was because I listened to the whole album from start to end for the first time that i liked it so much. And the fact that i had just listened to another album that was impeccably well produced, but each song sounded so formularised and exactly the same - the sesto really did it for me. Perhaps I got so excited because on a 3hour bus ride your mood tends to get bored, and something melodic and warm and friendly is really what you need! I'm going to have to play some of this at the weekend, although will probably try 'Disconnecting' & '1st Quality'. Deffo big ups to the Sesto boys for getting some emotion out there though... better to say something than to say nothing at all
Will try to report back on the results from the dancefloooooooooor if i remember. perhaps this is a party album and so so hot at home - some are like that.

For sure - sesto sento - one of the leading trance producers - and they did it again.
Although some tracks can be considered as old ones - it is a plessure blasting the speakers with them once again......
KEEP THE VIBE
