This might not be fresh news but may be for some of you.
I think it could be a really interesting collaboration in terms of evolution in digital Djing.

DJs, remixers and producers on the forefront of technology, watch out. Serato and Ableton are happy to announce a partnership which will pave the way for the future of Digital DJing. With shared artist rosters from hip-hop (DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Nu-Mark, A-Trak) to electronica (Paul Van Dyk, DJ Sasha), both Ableton Live and Serato Scratch Live are renowned as the premier performance platforms in clubs around the globe. While Serato's Scratch Live excels in vinyl emulation, music library control and lightning quick hands-on scratching, Ableton Live provides the tools for production, on-the-fly remixing and beat creation.
"Ableton and Serato take different approaches to modern musical performance," says Ableton CEO Gerhard Behles, "But both companies live by the philosophy that software should be straightforward, easy to use, and most importantly, reliable and stable onstage and in the studio. Ableton has never had an answer for the DJ who wants vinyl control, and rather than try to emulate what Serato do so well, we simply make sure that our products work well together."
Serato Audio Research CEO Steve West agrees. "After years of talking together, we're thrilled to be working with Ableton. It's exciting to think about what we can offer to DJs and producers: the ability to go beyond just spinning records and add a personal stamp to the music they play."
Just where this Serato and Ableton collaboration will take us has yet to be seen but one thing is clear: the worlds of DJing, remixing and production for artists worldwide have changes ahead.

I just hope they make something in the drivers..
For now u can have serato or ableton through serato which than acts like sound card..
To be able to use Abletones effects on music from serato u have to route it through the second audio card..
What would really be great is ableton and serato both through one interface and pitch control in ableton synced to seratos timecode..

It is possible with timecode vinyls but without any hardware.. Software does the convertion of timecode..
So unfortunately u cant use it straight away..
If u have a friend who has serato and has used timecode records he will probably give them to you for free, or u can buy it, theyre cheap, like normal records.. Thats what I did and played on that setup for half a year.. It works.. U cant expect it to be perfect but it works, that already a miracle..
I searched all over the net, and found just one video on you tube with setup like that, and gues what, it was in german and guy didnt explain anything..
Hope this cuts you hard time I had testing it, if u decide to use it..

Great, nice vestax u have ;-)
If u stuck with something let me know..
U will need sound card, u saw from scheme..
Serato engineers said they cant fix sampling issue - u cant set sample rate for more than 256 samples, meaning, u cant run ableton on serato as audio card on slow laptop.. Hope theyll fix that in the future.. And I hope they develop new ASIO drivers which will support ableton and serato in the same time.. So we SL1 users dont have to buy new piece of hardware..

If that tascam is this
http://www.tascam.com/products/us-122;9,15,68,16.html
than I see it has two inputs and two outputs which is great and should work with no problem..
However if it realy has one output u can compensate by using output on the laptop(almost every lap has one in and one out)..
U will see on the scheme that I have compensated in similar way by using one in on the laptop cause that Maya Crystal has two inputs but I couldnt use other one cause its mic in and cant be switchable so u can use it as a line in like u can on some laptops..
So u will need banana to chinch adaptors, 4 of them so u can connect chinches from mixer and turntables to laptop.. Be sure u ground turntables well cause u will run into problems otherwise..
Good luck and Im looking forward to results..
