Mastering Engineer will master the mixdown of your track, the stereo interleaved clean mixdown, i.e. no compression, limiting on EQ on master bus. They will not sort through all the separate channels of a track, it is the artist's job to make the mix sounds as good as possible before mixing down and seding off for mastering.
Also preferable to mixdown in 32bit or 24bit. Just make sure mix is as good as you can get it, and make sure there is no clipping, and no compression on the masterbus, it doesnt matter if you used some compression on the separate channels.
Goodluck

i actually tried to rmx a track someone made, i downloaded all the 24bit mixdowns of each channel, which took like two days, and imported them into cubase, but in the end the quality of the channel mixdowns was not good enough for me to be able to make something nice of it, his track was old, made on old tracker in 1980 or something |

Why is chopsticks one of the easiest songs to play on the piano, but the hardest thing to eat with? |

mastering....we all hear so many big stories about it and all of us think it so difficult...open your eyes and your ears.dnt believe in wot macho guys tell you about analog compressors and bla bla bla.all you need is e n e r g y to your track
1.finish your mix with no effect on master at -4db
2.use all kinds of effects u like on tracks.compress-limit each track.
3.take breaks between mixing every 18 minutes
4.bounce it on 32bit
5.load it on a host or woteva program
6.eq,wide,exciter,compress it n bounce it again with dithering on 16bit
7...........load it on logic...the rest is yours to find......(as soon as u load it jst try to find where that magic function is....clever ppl will understand.)
actually im feelling sry for tellin u that small big secret but....i no,im a bastard.im sry for my teacher,he asked me never to say it but who gives a fuck!!lol |

if u study in berklee u ll no wot logic has to do with mastering mate..the secret is in logic.i was in the mood to say some really good tips, not the whole exact process of mastering.im sry then guys..
taking breaks every 18 min is the only way for your ears not to get used to the frequencies of your track, you have to bear in mind that the best compressor in the world is a human ear .jst imagine a track bein mixed with no breaks.will it take you an hour,or two?then go to bed, sleep and listen to it as soon as u wake up.
the question is,is it the same?does is sound as good as i thought when you mixed it?if not then u ll understand y its so important taking breaks or listening to a track similar to yours between mixing.
neway i sudnt say anythin from the very begginig.
good luck with your mixes then,
and before jst getting a pc to make music read a fucking book and study on wot ur thinking you can do better than anyone else.
