Is it ok - technically- to have the prefader on sends on and the fader of this channel where the send is routed to up?
I have sth in mind that this should not be done cause of some cancelation of phase or sth..really don't have a clue but somehow I like it sometimes like this..but am eachtime cofused if this might affect the sound in a wrong way somehow maybe.Usually the fader shall be down in such case.
Is this ok like my question? A short yes from someone who knows would be enough for me.
My jungle english might be confusing but maybe the right person dig what i mean.
I have automated my sends on a lead and now it sounds better when the channel where the channel fader with and where the send chain was automated to is not really down.
confusing when I read myself but maybe someone knows and gives advice. |

When you use send effects and the prefader button is on - you should have the fader of the channel where it's at all the way down.
That is that what I have read about this issue.
But I like it sometimes when the channel is not all the way down in that particular case.
So both prefader button on send effect good wetty and the channel of the sound which uses that send effect also a bit higher.
Just wanted to get to know if it is by all means a wrong way of using send channels.
Thanks for reply Trip and no problem for me if I get no answer.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, if it sounds good use it.
One of my lecturers showed a technique with percussion where he sends a loop to a reverb FX channel with the fader down and pre-fader on.
He then automates the fader rising to give a sense of something in the distance coming closer.
It just seems to give you more control over your dry signal and wet signal.

Hey Chemogen thank you.
Funny,I made exactly the same on the very first day I came to understand send routings.
I than freaked a bit out made a few fx chains routed them all acrossed and to the channel where I synthesized sth from bazzism which sounded like a percussion part .
I than automated all possible the send effects strenghts of wettness & the channels faders of almost all channels I had too.
And it sounded satisfying for that moment for me.
I came to that idea I wanna use it much more often.
But I was not sure than later if it is not false to do it that way and stopped it.
Now I still like atleast the case I described.
I think I'll start to experiment with that things again a bit.

Do you mean that when you send a channel, by default it sends the signal after the channel's fader? So you turn on a pre-fader option? If that's what I understood, it sounds kinda strange.

use it to balance full wet and dry signals by adjusting faders. |
