for e.g. in cubase if you add a delay as a send effect, then all your audio event channels can use the same delay without addin separate delays for each channel (but at the same delay settings)... i think your question was if the sound of the processed audio of the differnt channels tend to mix w/each other and sound different (like a double delay)...it doesnt. If you want to intentionally do that then use the send effect on each channel, then create a group channel, route the desired audio channels there and add the send effect on the group channel also.

well, something different could be happening due to the overlap. When arriving at the send effect both send-signals could combine to a signal with a higher level that could clip and sound ugly. So its worth checking whether something like this is happening by bypassing the send-effects on their mixer-strip and playing the whole track. You can see how high the levels have been afterwards and if they were too high you can make adjustments.
It's also nice to know that all sends in Cubase SX are mono. So in case you want a stereo reverb on a stereo track you should use a group track or an insert. |

thats exactly what i was driving at..... my mix was clipping at those points in time.
thank you for validating my hunch.
interesting to know about that mono issue... how do i use a group as a send effect?

Good idea about the compression Tsabeat Hey, maybe it's also a good idea to place a limiter in the insert slot before the send effect to prevent clipping, since compressors can sometimes let the initial transient peaks of sounds thru. I'll try this out...
Surrender: as far as i know you can't really use a group track as a stereo send in Cubase (only as a mono one), but you can route several tracks to the same stereo group (via the bus at the top of each mixer channel) and put an insert effect on that stereo group track. It's not as flexible tho, as you apply the same wet/dry percentage of the effect to all tracks that are routed to the group. It can be rewarding tho, for example if you have some stereo fx-sounds and you want those to go with some tasty stereo reverb air around them. |

This is one way to change the dynamics. I prefer not to clip in the first place and avoid adding more fx then necessary. If I suspect that there is clipping on on of the sends, I'll press solo on every channel and check where it's coming from.

Fx channels that are also called sends in Cubase SX, can be anything from mono to surround. You can see the level and watch out for clipping the same way you do in any other audio track.

yes, if it's being send from a stereo audio channel. if it's being send from a mono channel it'll be duplicated to stereo.

@OOOD, I expected to see the same thing, but my Cubase SX 2 is ignoring pan information when it come to sends (post fader). looks like a bug.
