Received tracks from everyone who posted in this thread, still very much accepting tunes from people..the tentative deadline is February 10th or somewhere around there.

Hard decisions to be made

Again, please don't send me WAVs... and don't take it personally if I don't respond for awhile as I've just started a new job !

I'm considering naming the compilation 'Psychological Mutations', I just watched the film "Paprika" and highly recommend it...

I actually posted it somewhere else but it truly belongs here.

"focused on psy part of the word psytrance"
What inspired me for something like surreal and dark psychedelic(not necessarily trance) was Ludwig Van Beethoven(symphony the 5th), Pink Floyd, James Douglas Morrison, U2, some ethnic lounge productions like - 'Cosma - We are the same', 'The Future Sound of London - Lifeforms' and Ott and The Orb and... and I dont know how many. There are so many of them.
I didnt mention any of standard dark psy artists like Dark Nebula or Safi Connection or Xenomorph or Hallucinogen; That is only because I was not focusing on trance part of the word. Else they might be a good choice as well.

I think best inspiration one can gather is from all those cult movies out there. Movies carry emotions and their music can touch on the right place in the right time, and stir your imagination.

Movies I'm talking about are like--
1. Pi
2. A Clockwork Orange
3. Trainspotting
4. Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas
5. Suicide Circle(I mean it)
6. I'm A Cyborg But That's Okay
7. Kikujiro(or any of the Takeshi Kitano's work)
8. Modulation
9. Un Chien Andalou
0. Sonatine(did I mention Takeshi Kitano earlier).

Lots and lots of other movies.

Anything can inspire you. Once I read a novel by 'Carl-Johan Vallgren' -- "The Horrific Sufferings of the Mind-Reading Monster Hercules Barefoot: His Wonderful Love and His Terrible Hatred", this book imediately inspired me to make something that I still listen to and get totally thrilled.

I am completely clean now(dont even smoke a plain cigarette now), but I used to do drugs earlier, so once after I did Henbane + Heroine + couple of Spliffs, and got inspired to mix comfortably numb, but ended up making a 160 BPM, some undefinable style of the 02:33 minutes of fast beat less sequence of synth noises. They were heavily automated and filtered. For a year I kept it without having an intention to keep it, then one day suddenly I heard a drone ambient and thought of stretching that sample to some odd nine minutes and then there was a magic that was shimmering out of the monitors. It was so lush beautiful that my friend made me make an album out of it and bought it in INR 100. He said it will be a token to the personification of the beauty of Heroine.

Always try to get hands on world music. They can be really surprising at times.

Guys, Blumenkraft was Ott's first album, and the first song of the compilation was "Jack's Cheese & Bread Snack", which has been my all time favourite song in lounge genre. Although Viragi's heady composition of "The Seven Heads of Propaganda" has also been influencing me, but this song by Ott is ancient but still contemporary. One can learn many mixing skills through this masterpiece. Its a 12:52 minutes long and has a really slow buildup with lots and lots of almost angelic ambient drives. Another kickass anthem would be "The Orb's" - "The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld" and again the first song from their first album - "Little Fluffy Clouds".

Any comments on these songs guys?

My all time favourite is Total Eclipse.

There is nothing like getting a whirlpool trippy ride in 'the drunken boat'. Arthur Rimbaud and his legacy continues to haunt people. Still, even after the death of his one real good follower - James Douglas Morrison.

Check it out, if anyone hasnt yet.

I love those movies also!
Cat Soup!!

Also I'm extending the deadline, we just need one more track, I believe. End of February!

I've heard a lot of great music over the past month and if you didn't receive a response or weren't selected for the comp, please don't take it personally and understand that I am a very snooty/picky person and I'm looking for a certain atmosphere...

Girl of sixteen, whole life ahead of her
Slashed her wrists, bored with life
Didn't succeed, thank the Lord
For small mercies

Fighting back the tears, mother reads the note again
Sixteen candles burn in her mind
She takes the blame, it's always the same
She goes down on her knees and prays

I don't want to start any blasphemous rumours
But I think that God's got a sick sense of humor
And when I die I expect to find Him laughing
Girl of eighteen, fell in love with everything
Found new life in Jesus Christ
Hit by a car, ended up
On a life support machine

Summer's day, as she passed away
Birds were singing in the summer sky
Then came the rain, and once again
A tear fell from her mother's eye

I don't want to start any blasphemous rumours
But I think that God's got a sick sense of humor
And when I die I expect to find Him laughing
