seeking advice on moving to Israel...

I am an aspiring dj/producer from Arizona and I take what I do very seriously. Ive decided that the best way to get my creative juices flowing is to get away from the shallow mindedness that I am surrounded by here in the States and head to Israel. Im convinced there is something in the water over there because the sounds that come from that country are unmatched by anything Ive heard here. Im trying to find the best way to go about moving anywhere within a reasonable distance from Tel Aviv without having to spend too much money. Ive looked into living on a kibbutz or even doing an exchange program, but I thought I would have better luck talking to someone who may have already done what Im trying to do, or has a good idea on how to go about it. Any advice that anyone has would be much appreciated, because I know alot of you can understand why I feel that this is a necessary step. I realize that there is so much that I am not aware of and if I could get a heads up on anything from cheap ways to live to getting health insurance I would be very grateful. Thank you.

hey man all i know is that rent wise and living is much cheaper than the states the only thing you should find out is the visa details and how long ur allowed to stay in israel...
there are many places surronding tel aviv that you can find nice places to rent....
basically i think it shouldnt be that hard......you just have to be very sure you want to do it ....
good luck

Im not exactly trying to come over there to make a name for myself. All I am focused on now is getting over there and being able to support myself for a year, maybe more. Anyone who produces music would agree with me when I say that it is similar to growing grapes for wine in that it is very important that your roots are surrounded by good soil and quality ingredients so that the fruit you produce will not have a mediocre taste. This is my sole purpose in going to Israel.

personally i wouldn't move to the USA even with a fucking gun at my head, i'd prefer being shooted at least that wouldn't be constitutionally approved, but i think you're idealising a little bit too much about israel, try instead of israel to focus on what is-real : ever heard of burning man, shulgin, the indian tribes, rocky mountains, theese are all part of the imaginary of the people that don't live in USA: looks like beautiful, as far as you don't live there and discover that at the end all the world is the same.

each country has it's good and bad, like each soil

it isn't about the water it's about how goood the roots themselves are in looking for good water....

if you really want to experience a difference moving, then move away from occidental culture, for exemple i guess mexico is wonderful place with big hearted people as far as i know from trip reports of friewnds.

last question: how many good artists do you know that live in israel but aren't jewish.....?.....

To answer that first question, I guess it is not so important that I be in or near Tel Aviv. I am aware that Israel is a relatively small country so anywhere I land would be satisfactory. I just figured that it might be easier to start out close to a city and I have heard that Tel Aviv is very nice and has a Western feel.
Zafer, you do make a valid point, and I probably am coming off as being naive, but I should mention that I have been all over the world. Ive been to Burning Man, Ive seen the Rockies, the Alps and immersed myself in several different cultures. Everywhere I go I take a completely objective view on what I see and experience. Like you said, each place has its up and downs and I think that you are partially correct in saying that in the end it's all the same. I would rephrase that comment and say that every place has a different flavor...and no one flavor can be labeled as good or bad. Sounds, like flavors will resonate with some souls and do nothing for others. When I speak of the water in Israel, I am of course not speaking in literal terms, I am just curious as to what it is about the culture, the land, the air, anything that has even the slightest influence on these artists that is contributing to the best sound Ive ever tasted.
And yes, there are many big hearted people in Mexico. And beautiful Psytrance festivals as well.
