Careful installing Skype in your production machine (it's more of a virus than anything else... I don't quite understand why they need to open a socket at the default HTTP port and probe your entire LAN, when the app is completely in idle.. which prevents my applicational server to startup. Our discoveries are it does too much suspicious background work and communication to be trusted..) long story short, it will take up a bit of your processing power.. and if you like to have a squeaky clean production studio PC, it might be in the way
That said, maybe a browser-based solution might be less invasive - probably Google Hangouts (which I do admit tens to have a little less quality for 1-1 calls, but it's a good way for 1-N calls).
Also, If you want to see, hear and control - try teamviewer I've done some remote production help with this
Cheers!

Thanks for the tips guys. I remember using skype before and it would always piss me off how much it slowed down my laptop. Just tried out hangouts and that seems to work really well. Only thing I cant figure out, and maybe its not possible, but only way I could get audio through is using the internal mic on the imac. It sounds like shit when trying to playback our tracks. What I want is to use a mic through my interface for talking and then any audio from cubase/ableton is fed directly from the interface and not just being picked up through the internal mic. Thanks again for the tips |
