I haven't plugged in my keyboard so I cannot play and listen by ear, but the scale you wrote was in B, right? Phrygian mode (the old church scale) usually change a semitone on the 2nd and on the 6th note, from what I know.

Phrygian in major C for example:

C, D#, E#, F, G, A#, B#, C

Starts with a major C, moves on to a minor D (changes one semitone), moves on to minor E (changes one note), [..], then goes from a major G to a minor A (one semitone), moves on to a minor B (changes one tone) and then back to C.

A phrygian in major B, would look something like...

B, C, D, E, G#, G, A, B

Sometimes the old goa tracks used to vary the 3rd note (if it should change a whole note or just a semitone), so this is not the "ultimate key to instant goa trance". There is a lot more to it. ;-)

Hope something could get you going!

For good mystical Psy I use the phrygian dominant 3rd mode. I'm pretty sure it's just a modulation of the harmonic minor scale.

You should also make up your own scales with 1-1.5 tones gaps. By using 2 octave scales you can get some really nice results and highly unfarmiliar melodies!
