I dont think dark and scared,I was thinking on deep hypnotic atmosfers and metalic leads. 
Its obviously to use darker scale for this,not c major.... |

Well try making melodies that sound deep and hypnotic... You can easily hear when a note sounds out of scale with the other ones that you picked, and if it does then simply don't use that note. It's not necessary to know which scale you are working in.
