Hi there,

i noticed something strange....
When i turn in the saw on my Virus C, there is a light beep in the Background. This is really annoying.
Listen to the Sample :

http://rapidshare.de/files/6377833/Virus_Saw.mp3.html

If i turn in the saw on my Nord 2 , there is nothing like that at all.
Listen here:

http://rapidshare.de/files/6377843/Nord_saw.mp3.html

Its just with the saw , everything else is ok.
But i ask myself, if everyones that confident with the Virus , how could it be that it sounds like that, such crappy?
Can please someone who owns a virus ,maybe a C , replicate this at home.
Filter were set to /LP 12 db/ cut 64/ reso 0.
Pure saw - on the Virus Waveform is set to 64.
Semi is at - 12.
Oct switch at -1.
played with c3.

With these settings i get this fuckin strange beep in the background of the virus sound.

If u can replicate that , can it be taht the Virus sounds so bad comapred to the nord?
It sounds really LoFi ;-(

Cheers

Very strange. It sound like aliasing. Are you shure that there are no distorition fx on it (like rate reducer)?

Jah

theres nothing like distortion nor anything else in this patch.
Just a plain saw.....
really strange.
I tweaked and tweaked and tweaked - i cant get rid of this beep noise in the background as long as using "pure" saw.
Hmmm
i decided to use the Nord if i need a good, hard, bad and dirty saw ;-)
The Nord just sounds more agressive in the end...

Cheers

Ive always found the Nordlead way better sounding than the Virus series. Especially the osc, but that beeeeee in your example is definetly NOT suppose to be there! How does it sound when you open the filter (set to 127)? Is it still there?

Me too. When I had both in my studio, the Nord Lead 1 was getting much more use than the Virus B (which after a point stayed permanately switched off).
Can't say much about the C though since it has that Moog filter which I have heard whilst playing around with the C in shops whilst the missus was busy buying shoes, but I haven't had it in my studio to give it a proper go.
Tell you what though, the Nord Lead sounds fantastic going through an analogue Moog filter.           Me>You
