I got there during the end of Electrik's set which was pretty banging, and at first had me worried that it was Karash's and that I had missed most of it. Then Helios came on, I generally enjoyed most of his music but it wasn't really my cup of tea. Afterwards was Karash who totally ripped it, but unfortunately during his set some black dude in a red stony brook seawolves t-shirt groped my girlfriend and got in my face threatening to "smack me" after I backed him off of her. This all happened in the center of the dancefloor, and the fucking guy actually continued causing trouble and commotion later on when he saw me in the smoking area. After informing Mr BenLightOmatic of this, he assured me that he(the perpetrator) was an "okay guy" and that everything is fine. I found this quite unsettling and for his own sake and the safety of trance parties in general, I hope he doesn't show up at any future parties or makes some serious effort to change his behavior and attitude.
The Deco was very nice quality-wise but lacking quantity-wise especially for such a big place. The place is spacious and has a lot of potential. Some seating arrangements would be great for the future.
As we were about to leave, we were asked not to due to police presence outside. A few minutes later the sound was significantly turned down. We were in a rush to leave so I did not find out the why/what of the situation, or how it was resolved.
All in all, great party, thank you 28thday + Psybotik!

PS:
This wasn't a Light-o-Matic party so it is not like he neglected his responsibilities or anything like that. I was just surprised and taken aback by his response and confidence.

I am sorry that incident occurred, but you seem to imply that I did something wrong as well? I assume from your tone here that you think I should have taken some action.. beat the guy up? Throw him out of the party??? I had neither the ability nor authority to do either of those things. Nor the talent. I was the primarily the sound guy at the party.. not the producer of the party (there were four of those at the party) or a security guy (there were at least two, maybe three professional security guys there).

I became involved only because I happened to be standing nearby, and happen to be the kind of guy who cares, when I am involved with a party and I see two people fighting on the dancefloor. But at that point the incident was over, the situation had been seemingly contained. The stupidest thing I could have done at that point would have been to start playing detective (which I did not even have the authority to do) and , which would have only riled things up again.

Don't get me wrong, I am sure this guy behaved badly. He was drunk, he was clearly at the wrong party (though his friends were psytrancers who I recognized, who were NOT supporting the actions of their friend, were patiently trying to manage him.. and they were really the best people to do that)...

If I had known that this incident continued after that, I would have found one of the producers who would have ordered security to throw the guy out. And hopefully then he would peacefully leave and not wait outside for you or find his way back in and do real harm. And then what would you expect me, a 5 foot 7 inch geek with little to offer in a physical conflict, to do for you then? Fighting people is not my talent.

But in any case you did not give me that information.. I didn't know that he hassled you again, and assumed everything was fine, and went back to doing my job at the party, which was sound. But keep in mind that if I had gotten security, it would have been in their hands as to what to do about the situation, and their decision might very well have been to throw both of you out, which is what usually happens when you get into a fight at a club, regardless of fairness or fault.

Anyway it is depressing to work so hard on sound for a party and do what I think was a very good job at what I do, and all a person has to say is that I was not a good enough security guard.

Uh yeah, i'm sorry if my post seemed to imply that I wanted you to physically intervene. I did not have that intention, and the only reason I approached you and explained very briefly what happened is because I saw you talking to him. By your response it seemed to me you were excusing his behavior, but clearly I must have misinterpreted it. I did not expect you to play detective but thought you would put a little more inquiry into the issue, but as I can see by your post you had already done this(you know who his friends are etc...)
All the hard work you put in to the party definitely paid off, I'm no expert(unlike you) on sound quality but it sounded pretty damn good to me. Please don't get depressed b/c of this, it was silly of me to approach you in the first place when I was well aware of who the organizers are. I had a great time at the party otherwise, but i think it is understandable that the described situation put a dent into my night and reflected my review.
I'm looking forward to future 28th day and Psybotik parties.

so to any 3rd party readers: Ben is of NO FAULT here at all, he was the sound guy at the party, not security or organizer, and he did a great job at what he was supposed to. I'm sorry I brought him up, we just had a incredibly brief dialog which I misinterpreted/misunderstood and felt slightly offended by as a result.           We are all visitors to this time, this place. Karash played a more than decent set. My expectations were very high though...

mad props to the 'sound guy'

Haven't heard a system as clean as that one in a while.

Shit sounded crisp!

you know it bothers me that some shit like that went down at a trance party. I mean it happens everywhere but its sad. Actually its way worse at most clubs/rave/rock shows. If you see something bad we are all responsible to fix it.

Just got back to San Francisco and a computer, and boy oh boy was that a fun time! I was super stoked to play in NYC and to help de-virginize a sick new venue. NYC you cats are lucky as hell! There just are'nt indoor spots like that in CA anymore. Musically, the party had a really great flow. The energy level & response from the crowd was very high, almost palpable.. Lots of smiling faces beaming energy all arround

For such a HUGE space, the deco was off the hook! They did a great job of making you feel enclosed in some sort of Alien Landing bay, with strange colored green walls that made all the video being projected wash out into streams of scattered light. downstairs there was an indoor smoking area near the restrooms for people to lounge in.. no outdoor smoking here.. youd be turned into a popsicle with the 26* degree weather!

Karash played a kickin 2hr set (i think) which was lighter and more full force than i expected. Quite a treat to hear "Dark" music that still has a chunky bass sound to Go with all the high pitched acid squiggz that usually constitue this sound.

Mad props to the 28th day & Psybotik Crews for pulling this all together despite adversity, shifting venues, and reconfiguring sound systems.. Had i not known what was going on behind the scenes i would have never known how much work and at what length they went to make this an Awesome event.

BRAVO!

Thanks Liquid. Sorry, I should have communicated with you better. In retrospect maybe I should have gotten security.

Mez.. yea it is a shame but I think this party had a really great vibe and pretty much -everyone- there had a good spirit. It was just this one guy who caused a problem. I remember a time not so long ago when there was never professional security at underground parties and nobody wanted them there either. We had to work out our own shit. Having security guards watching you was something you had to deal with in clubs. Of course it's different when they are working for you and not for the club. But ideally I think we (psytrancers) need to solve our problems ourselves whenever possible.
