FREAKULIZER (alchemy rec)

Known for his individual and innovative production style, Switzerland’s Freakulizer (Simon Schwendener) has been creating a stir since his 2005 debut album 'The Awakening Process'. With a deep, powerful and melodic sound, driven by grooving basslines, Freakulizer has been critically hailed by producers and punters alike. Known for his top-notch production, Simon has been hailed as one of the emerging icons of full-on psytrance. With extensive releases on Com.pact, Headroom, Psytropic, Zoom and Alchemy, Simon has cultivated a distinctive style. Since his debut-release on Alchemy, Freakulizer has toured extensively. His global psy-adventures will bring him to South Africa over the Freedom-day long-weekend. Catch him live in action for the first time on our shores at the Groovy Troopers party on the Afro-rooftop.

ANNARCHY (domo rec)

Starting her musical career as a DJ in Tel Aviv, Annarchy worked her way through Isreal, Europe and Brazil and Australia, playing at festivals and outdoor parties. Her training as a sound engineer, and her taste for weird, dark and mysterious sounds have made her a unique and dynamic live-act. South African party-goers will remember her rocking the dancefloor at Origin 2005, where she played a memorable closing set. Currently, Anna is working on two different projects: PI, a freestyle breakbeat side-project, and Annarchy, her usual deep and progressive persona. Annarchy’s debut album is scheduled for release in summer of 2007 on Ear Peaks. Catch her live in full-psychedelic splendour on 28 April when she returns to South Africa.

WILL DOGON (maia rec)

Starting his musical career as a techno-DJ in the London underground, Will Dogon learned his mixing and set-building skills from the likes of Luke Slater and Billy Nasty. Soon after discovering trance in 2002, Will landed a residency at Birmingham’s renowned Stereo Chemistry and hasn’t looked back. In the years following he’s become a label DJ for Mexico’s Maia records, playing at celebrated psy-festivals and gigs in the UK alongside luminaries like Cosmosis, Eat Static, Joti Sidhu, Prometheus and Laughing Buddha. Catch him in South Africa for the first time on the 28th of April when he promises a no-holds-barred set of pure psy-brilliance!

Back by popular demand!
Rooftop Party @ Afro

Put on your party hats - it’s a long weekend & the psychedelic sideshow is coming to town! Nestled in Cape-Town’s foreshore, the legendary Afro-studios will be playing host to luminous Trooper antics & the best in psy-acrobatics this side of the equator! Rising from harbour-complex, Afro is the town’s undiscovered secret feat. 2 levels of fun. Magnificent views of Table mountain and the harbour beckon from upstairs, while indoors plenty of comfy-seating & quirkiness provide rest for tired booties & inquisitive psychedelic travellers. Shading will protect from the worst of the elements, but there’s plenty of dry-space inside (just in case) … So there’s no excuse to miss the Trooper’s legendary last blast of the season! Check yourself in at the departure lounge & prepare to be trance-ported on an amazing adventure!

An Indoor/Outdoor venue, close to town. In case of bad weather, no worries, pull thru as there will be lots of areas to keep dry in. Open 9pm ‘till the next day.

It’s a public holiday long-weekend!
