Sasha is in Live Control with Ableton
RA announced Sasha new US residencies late last year and with this came the expected amount of excitement from USA fans considering this was his first residency in America since the Twilo days with John Digweed. However, things were going to be slightly different this time around. Sasha had a new toy, a new instrument, a new piece of technology with which to wield his magic and those stateside punters were going to hear it live for the first time. Described as a prototype wave file controller this sexy piece of kit (seen on the right) is something he created to maximize interaction with the breakthrough software program, Ableton Live. An idea for nearly 12 months, it is now reality.
Allowing for sound manipulation, it ads a unique live element to Sasha's sets and intrigued by the concept RA's Los Angeles correspondent, Dariography caught up with Sasha to get a true in-depth understanding of 'The Controller'.

nice piece of equipment, always wanted to try and mix several tracks together at once- should be interesting to see psytrance djs start using something like it. |

As far as I know he generally does not actually mix 6 different tracks together via Ableton, but the elements of the track which his production crew de-construct from the tunes he gets.
Also Ableton is used a lot in trance live sets now (Protoculture for instance) - all our mate Sasha did was have special MIDI controller developed for him. |
