His yelling isn't the problem...

How come u love his music so much and just trade it ? Why don't you buy his albums and this way thank him for the joy he gives ya?

It's a shame! At least keep it with you and don't share it with us!!

That is one hardcore Faux Pas... we all feel awkward now ... you sound selfish
I personally believe the artists should make a living by performances not record sales. In the old days when tapes fist came out the bands would hand their music out freely. Now we got record companies.
Don't artists get only like 10% of the record price anyway?
i'm not advocating pirating, i'm simply saying if artists would tour more they would have more money, and more fame.
Try this, an artist with no record contract but is very famous. How? The artist gives his/her music out at their own web site, in a 74 minute package! That way people can still write reviews and what not. People will talk about this good music that is free, and pretty soon everyone knows who they are. They will have more fans than ever because the music is free to hear! So when they tour, people will come.
I just bet it'd work!
And I don't mean MP3.com either. That site isn't a good place for professional music. It has to be professional like Koxbox's web site.

YOU may believe that but you don't have a right to determine what someone else does with their music. if they want to sell it or what not. in psy trance the artist usually ends up getting a lot more than 10% and the label owner is just another trancer usually so i would be careful with your assumptions.
no one gets 'signed' anymore- and usually the releases don't pay much because sales are down so go figure...
what you are talking about already exists- check ektoplasm.com as its loaded with free albums- legally free- given away by artists who thought as you suggested. basilisk on this forum runs it...
but again- you've no right to determine what someone "should" do with any of their creative works.

i too like sandman. from witchcraft to psychotoons it was all some cool stuff
would be nice to hear some new stuff from him

and actually, the more i think of it- the scene did not start with 'no labels' and artists releasing cassettes informally.
DJ's make mix tapes and sold them usually face to face-
featuring b-sides of frankie goes to hollywood, erasure, even pet shop boys- anything with an electronic beat...
when the first 'goa trance' as the freak scene in india was called, artists hit the european techno scenes (where all the music was made anyway) they were signed on big techno labels- for example koxbox were on harthouse, x-dream were on tunnel records... there wasn't much differentiation yet at that time.
at that time you could get 'signed' and live from some advance money on the album or singles sold.

today, thanks to the attitude that all recorded music is everyones property regardless of the intention of the creator and the team releasing him/her, we have such low cd sales and yet the trance scene is much larger in terms of number of people worldwide.

the closest thing we have to big labels are more like clearinghouses for re-releases like YSE etc...
the amount of releases are shocking compared to the size of the scene, and so each release does not do well.
its considered good to sell 1000 copies of a cd... worldwide...

so what you 'personally believe how it should be' is in fact, the way it is today!
while it may not be worth a labels time to release psytrance, an individual artist or scene member may take it upon themselves to do so, let them be the judge of how they want their music to come to the world.

personally, i intend to sell my new tracks online on my website directly- and i intend to press some cd's in simple sleeves to hand sell on the festivals this summer.
well, the problem is my burner doesnt work and i'm not sure how to burn the master cd for duplication without a working burner even... a new computer or burner costs money.
the parties are paying less just these last 2 years or so.
this is because of the economic crisis in the world, and the philosophical crisis in trance-= specialized styles and friends-only parties with tiny crowds, and everyone is an artist and will play for free or little money and the organizers are tired of losing money etc...

while i would love a rainbow gathering free party concept, we live in a world of rent and food costing money
this is why i had a job for most of the 17 years i have been making music- and why when i went fulltime on the road touring and willing to play every weekend somewhere else i was prepared to basically be poor all the time...

anyway- you can see why this attitude is not helpful if we want any dedicated full time music makers and performers
and you can see why the top talent will be so eager to jump into pop music, film music, video game music, etc...
its way better money!

anyway- i digress- support sandman if you like his music.
he is a person. you can email him and ask him to buy his music directly perhaps...           check new OCELOT, PROG-A-LOT and more on
