I have a audigy2 soundcard and this feature (record what you hear) works great! Better quality than most of the samples you find (online) It just needs some noise reduction and eq. |

Hello my friends. I've got this question that's buging me a lot. How legal (in the terms of law) is to put samples (voices for example) from movies in our tracks?
Hugs, stay cool |

DUDES - YOU SHOULDNT BE SAMPLING.
If you have an mpg file you can extract either the mp2 data digitally and losslessly, or you can decode directly to wav losslessly (both using virtualdub), and then just open up in wavlab or something like that and select the wanted data and copy and paste.
If you sample the data then you are adding sampling and background noise to the sample. |

thankfully for making music I havent had to touch a PC on more than a few occasions for anything in the last few years. the tools are there, you just have to look for them.
you can reroute the audio stream from any source to another using soundflower, jack audio, or audio hijack, in order of recommendation, and the quality is lossless 24bit
Gamma Riders EP out now on iTunes and Amazon.com!

Huh? Er, that's what pretty much 100% of us these days call sampling.
I'm assuming you're talking about using an actual old hardware sampler or something where there's a loss of audio quality.

Yo Tomer
Is this "what you hear" thing the same quality as any other recording?
I remember a few years ago it wasn't possible to do that, only with "Total Recorder".

"Sampling" means digital recording. And in the case of an mpg file recording means the already sampled and compressed source is again resampled, introducing extra noise.
Thats Y you shouldnt do it. esspecially since you can just extract the bitstream directly from an mpg.
demultiplexing of the audio data from the mpg data stream is what I recommend. |
