www.learndigitalproduction.com
I will be purchasing a proper host in the future. Right now it is run off my computer. When I get the functionality and content added properly I will launch with my real host. Thanks!
This is a completely user fed samples and tutorials website. My youtube tutorials (the better ones) will be featured on there. I am looking for people to create tutorials for cubase, ableton, logic, sonar, pro tools, melodyne, other popular vst or synth sound design. I am also looking article writers. The site is in the test phase at the moment.
The only working part of the site is the sample page. Create an account and then go to create content then select the sample type. Fill out all the information in detail. (you can ignore all the collapsed items except for the file attachment link which you must click to pull down the upload form). Please upload your own custom sounds. Please do not upload any sounds that are not royalty free or have not been made by yourself!
Enjoy peeps. I hope this site can be a great influence on the music community. I hope to eventually make it a place where someone can go from the very beginner to a moderate producer through online education. Free of course! :):):)

Lovely website mate.
And great iniciative.
I've signed up.
Could you please add a preview button on front of the samples?
This way we wouldn't have to go to another page and whait for media player to open.
There is an example of what I mean here:

What kind of articles do you need written exactly? If it is a topic I think I may have some valid thought on then I would be up for writing a few. |

yup am aware of the problems. i'm working on the little things now. such as the preview button. im not positive i'll be able to do that. right now theres a download button which if you click you can direct download. i havent been able to do much past couple of days but im working on it again now. it should launch to real server very soon. it is neat how freesound project has it setup. I would like to be able to show the actual waveform as well. I'm not sure that's within my power as a designer though/ on the platform I'm using.
The email problem is no issue atm as it requires no email activation to register. At the moment I'm worried about a couple things. Fixing up the articles section so that there is a tree of topics for people to write about. And cleaning up the look of the articles area which is now called archives. The samples page needs a little bit of work. Basically theres a lot of small stuff I need to do. Thanks for the example site. I didn't know such a site existed. It's kind of been my idea for years to create a free sample site but I want it to be a little more than just that. So I finally start it. Kind of discouraging to see someone has already done what I originally sought to do. However, that wont stop me from still doing it.

actually looking at this free samples website it appears it may be on the same platform i'm running on. the tags system works very much similar to the platform im using (drupal). I think I'm going to rework my site to use a similar system as the one you provided. however, I have downloaded a direct download link. so you don't have to view the upload page to download, but it is nice to be able to preview so I have always wanted to implement a preview button which I think I have the tools to do it.

nice one mate,
waiting for it to fully work. really what we needed besides a nice forum like this. some kind of interactive wiki-style homepage to share samples, tips, links and tech info.

If anybody has any idea how to show the waveform of the uploaded file please clue me in. I am using the drupal platform. Most everything is done through modules that have been created by users however you can build custom modules in drupal. I have never found a platform as powerful. Once I get better I'd like to switch to the python language and use the django framework

There is currently two links one to link to the download page and one direct download link listed. I am going to do a preview button that is fairly easy to implement. I just can't seem to find any information on drawing a waveform based on a file. I imagine freesound coded their own little thing to do that.
I'm just going to set it up using a tagging system that I will allow users to edit similar to freesound. Of course implement the preview button and perhaps make it a little prettier.
