What are the advantages in using sampled synths ?
Will it save some CPU ? Isn't it a bit messy (i mean automation, velocity, lenght) ?

Depends on the samples quality, take "Spectrasonic Atmosphere for example- very very high quality samples that sit very good in the mix and there's some others which sound shit so the cpu saving is not enough to make you use them- all depends on the specific instrument imo,
basically vsti's are more flexible for changing, tweking and automating- but every sound got his own place and his speciality whether is a synth or pre-recorded samples

Both have its advantages, samples are not better nor worse than synth.
The right use of both is important to get good results.
I am using both a lot.

Sure using sampled synths has its adventages, the question is - what are they ?
And may be more important one - when is it better to sample down a synth and again why ?

everybody eats at mac donalds
and shure its nice
and its nice when you manipulate a sample as you want
but the feeling of making a sound of your own to use on your track is the best
and dont forget that you can do anything you like with it
and maybe others will use it as a sample

I don't feel worse if i am using a sample
I think its not the same, i often sample my synth to, just for tweaking them in another way.
For example you can't cut synth sounds and put them new together, or do reverse effects on them, and all that stuff.
So for me are samples very important to archieve some kind of sounds.

for me, it's about balance between the sound i want and the ammoun of control i need., then i use whatever is easier at the time.,
sampling pro's:
-can capture naural sound.,
-repeatable.,
-sampling artefacts
synh pro's:
-more (real-time) conrol over results,.
-unique, unnatural sounds.,
-(in some cases) unpredictabiliy
IMHO there is no right or wrong.
hell, sometimes presets are the way to go!
