...........why can't they create their own memorable lines?
eg: Eskimo - Party Pooper (dunno if it's from a movie)
... that sample in 'Party Pooper'...... 'yeah the police are here... etc etc... gotta stop the party etc etc.."
was an original 'idea' by me mate Ben (Voidcomm/Offworld Festi)... and he recorded himself saying that and put it in a track he wrote............. he sent that track to Phantasm Records....it didnt get anywhere but..... a few months later.... Eskimo track appears....(totally different track).... but Bens 'original' sample!!!.... wicked track but not cool.. !!what can ya do?!?)
hehe...For a while there I'd get Ben to speak it to people at parties and they'd freak when they recognised his voice ---------------------------------------------

or maybe it would look amateruish if some big band (like Metallica) uses lines from movies in their tracks -- off course as full_on pointed out, there are exceptions; but "Dream Theater" has always been a rather unique band! They don't mind imitating metallica (correct me if i'm wrong here!) since they're big fans of metallica
even though its not in the song itself metallica sampled its mtv vid from the the 1971 movie on the youtube link below.

MonasticSquid, if thats a true story that is so sad. If an artist stole an *original* sample from a track I sent them in good faith and released it in their own form I'd be straight round their house!
It's not like artists don't borrow ideas, but your story amounts to a blatant in-your-face theft.
For shame Mr Eskimo.

Pathetic! Makes you wonder how many of established artists are doing the same thing. What I hate about this is not so much the fact that people are corrupted and greedy... I hate the fact that I support those greedy and corrupted people with each CD i buy and with each party fee I pay for their "live".
God bless the internet... for it WILL change the world we live in!!!

I've mentioned this already (but it's worth repeating)... when it comes to money and success - virtue seams to run out trough the window "It occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that intuition. My discovery was the result of musical perception"

Sampling is interesting when it is creative, not just about using phrases themselves but working with sampler for example. The similar thing with guitars in psytrance imo.

About Eskimo - Party Pooper which has the sample:
"Ladies and gentleman, can I have your attention, please?
I'm sorry, but the police are here. They've asked us to stop the party."
It is said that the party did happen and the police did stopped it and Junya did the recording.
Please someone with reliable sources explain the "real" story.
Respect!

I find it hard to believe that anyone would made up this story because person who would do that does not have any benefits from it. I don't see the motive for such an act.
Opportunity makes a thief... It would not be the first time that labels have abused demo tracks from newcomers.

***FOR THE RECORD***
dj Junya aka Eskimo took (without my permission) this sample and the idea itself from my track 'Party Police' (VOIDCOMM), which I had given as a demo to his father, John (Phantasm Records), at a lovely outside party near Bristol, UK)
I'm very blessed by the continuing effect this idea is having everywhere - just abit keen that some of you know that it came from me, not him.
Having said that, my track was not of good enough quality to be released (still learning every day) and Junya's was and is a kick arse stomper. Hats off.
Needless to say, I'm saving a few further ideas untill the day my production skills are good enough to get the feedback directly.
Love to you all
