what is the law side of using a film sample or anything....can I use a little part of a film without permission or is it strictly not allowed??
And are there differences between using film samples and samples from other well-known traxx?

Theoretically I can't see that there's any difference between sampling a movie sample or sampling bits of other tracks... But I'm no lawyer, so I don't know the copyright laws by heart... 
I don't think anyone bothers to ask for permission when sampling movies...
I've never heard of a psytrance artist getting sued for using a movie sample... Don't know if the 'movie people' are aware of it, but honestly I don't think they care, since psytrance is as underground as it is... But I reckon if Britney Spears (or the guy who makes her music) sampled a movie, she'd have to ask ...

its against the law (or more correct to international pact that include all progress tribe) but u will not have any problem by sampling whatever u want. not in nearest 100 years.
but there is a roumor that GMS "star wors" trak was released so late becoze of some problems that close your question.
but law (pact) care only about members that pay them money, so if u sample something that maded by one who is not from members who pay, so u have nothing to be worry about.

i think the same about it's no problem using some movie samples ...anyway i really need some webpages with movie samples. can anyone recommend some?

i also think there's no problem on using this samples, otherwise Bansi and Riktam would be paying lots of money nowadays, as well as other artists...

i think that samplers of movies puts some culture in a track...
yes matrix and fear in lothing in las vegas too

are the movie samples u get on the net very good quality???... I know the best way would be to have a nice dvd player in your machine but for now all i have is an external vcr connected with a scart to my mixer.. Quality is okay but not brilliant so if any one has used web samples- fx and voice.. is the quality good?
ps/the only artist i have seen put the name of the film where he sampled below the credits to the track in the sleeve is DinoP... I dont know whether its legit or he's just taking the piss of the whole thing |
