Hello

I have decided that I would much rather have a hardware sumpler for the beats....
I was looking at the Akai Z4 and it looked nice, but then I saw that infected was only using the AKAI 1000 (much cheaper)
Is infected using software too?

what hardware samplers are good.... which are good an portable?

There isn't much point in getting a modern hardware sequencer for studio work. Software samplers offer much more power and MUCH MUCH MUCH more ease of use. The only reason to use a hardware sampler in the studio IMO is if the sampler has a specific sound (like an old 12 bit sampler or something).

On the other hand, hardware samplers make more sense in a live environment as they tend to be more stable than computers but these days it is possible to have a stable computer setup for live.

And a sampler can be useful if you have some drum-pads attached to it because of the lack of latency.
