I just love Akai, i love my S1000 and S3200 ,
especially when it tells me to "Call Richard" , it happens
mostly after i finished building some complex program
and when i happy with the results, when i tweak the last
parameters, in the last second before i press "Save" . . .
Anyway i love Akai , so easy to use and so powerfull ,
the sound quality is great , it gives very clean output and
the filters are great . My favorite part is mixing the
8 outputs and resampling again . . .

btw, don't be fooled by the new Z8 stuff , those are just
blue toys , as i can see Akai getting out of samplers
business with all the new models , they are just crap . . .
If u think about spending money on Z8, think about some
software sampler, in this case software can do same job
for less money .

softwares can do the job but not in the same quality!
thats for sure....
u can't compare any software today (and also kontakt) to good hardware sampler...

it also depends on what exactly u use your sampler for ,
most ppl use samplers as "sample players" and i agree
that software can do this job very well , but a hardware
sampler can be used in much more professional way . . .

i'm talking about the balanced audio inputs , and "record"
function that makes the possibilities endless .
it's just one example , there is a lot of stuff that so easy
to do with hardware unit , that takes lot more time to
do in software domain .

if u use sampler for recording...
u dont need a sampler...
sampler is like a synth that the oscilators are the samples itselfs...
u can do lots of synthesis to the samples and lots of other things...
Kontakt can do lots of things to... but as i said before ... u cant compare the quality....
take as example - the filters...
did u ever heard an emu filters in real time????

i'm not talking about regular recording process , i mean
resampling stuff trough effects and trimming into new
waveforms for wierd oscillations and stuff . . .
ofcourse i use my sampler as a synth also , but the main
part is using my sampled sounds as starting waveforms
for sound creation .
btw, about e-mu filters , once i had a e6400 and i sold it
because i was out of money , i was really sorry for that .
i know those filters , the z-plane tech sounds wicked .
emulators are great samplers, also the Kurzweil k2000
series are great sampling machines with incredible
synthesizer capabilities .

Ok after this words I decide me for a harware sampler. Can you give me some examples ? Why not the Z8 ?
What are the disadvantages?
I think its very intresting to use the hardware sampler from the PC.

Do I need 24 Bit/96 kHz Processing (only Z8 ?) when I want to recording with 24 Bit/96 kHz in my Cubase ?

All the new "Z" series from Akai it's one big disadvantage
and 24/96 doesn't tells me anything about quality , it's
only numbers that has nothing to do with the quality .
People buying them just because they get impressed from
the fact that it's "the only 24/96 sampler on da' market" ,
it's bullshit , i heard those samplers and they sound shit ,
just like the outputs of MPC4000 or SoundBlaster Extigy .
I don't know why, but older Akai's sound much better ,
so i think that the "Z" series are the last line of samplers
that Akai going to produce .

24bit-resolution/96khz-sample rate (96.000 cycles/sec)
16bit/44.100hz=16bit/44.1khz=audio CD standart quality
i make all the cables from sampler to mixer by myself ,
Proel cables and Neutrik plugs ...
if the cable is damaged i can hear it , if i can't hear it , the
cable is good .
Anyway, i didn't understand all the stuff SuperGlue said
but i already used to work with hardware, and it's really
personal thing to choose the way of creating music .

Peace.
