Sampler vs using synth question

I have much better feel manipulating sounds and automating them, when I store the midi as an audio, then leaving that sound in synth, and manipulating it(also ,flstudio kinda rigid when using "foreign" vsti, when it comes to automating).

But I've saw couple tutorials, when it has been said, that you have to sample each note you will use, instead of using sampler internal algorithm for that purpose.
Is there a notable difference,or it depends on plugin and a sampler?

there can surely be a difference, but it depends on the settings on the synth. for example you can have a filter that opens up more when you play a higher note; that gets lost if you sample one note and use that sample over all octaves.

why do you say rigid when using external vsti's?

Well,it's me actually... I forget each time how to automate external VSTI's (Imageline plugins have that "make automation clip",or "edit events" on almost each button, which is fucking great..But for non-imageline plugins you have to yank the buttons, and then do some shit I don't remember).

- now i see your point, indeed it is a pain to deal with external vst's if you want to do the same you do with the fl defaul vst's, there are some external vst's that allow fl to make events out of them, those who don't allow you have to load a bunch of fl vst's to make what you want -

(fuck i keep saying: vst's vst's vst's)

on topic: like you said you have to morph the synth score into a sample, and from that you can work, but for me i like working the the synth vst, not samples, they are more .. hmm... morphable

if you cant right click > create automation just tweak any knob and hit TOOLS > last tweaked parameter > create automation clip
you'll find it on the top somewhere along with options etc etc
