hey guys and girls...
i'm needing some help here..
i'm not a musician...and neither have a musical knowledge to 'find' by ear in which key a sample line is in...so what i'm looking here is some sort of a plugin/app that could load a sample..and could tell with accuracy enough in which key the sample is it ?
thanks in advance..

no plugin that i know of. seems impossible to me.
you could determine the "core" frequency of each note then identify that freq on a chart with the note it is associated with. i cant find the chart at the moment. its a few extra steps, but it'll work.
im sure someone will come along with the link to the chart.
...was i clear?
im sure someone else will post with a simpler way. The IsraTrance MySpace Group:

open a freakuency analyzer on it and see where it the "core" is like s0ft said:
A = 55hz
A# = 58hz
B = 62hz
C = 65hz
C# = 69hz
D = 74hz
D# = 78hz
E = 82hz
F = 87hz
F# = 93hz
G = 98hz
G# = 104hz
first octave.

the core is usually the loudest part of the sound, i'd imagine it would be in the middle of the sound on a spectrum.

C-Tuner is a nice plug that would do what you want,
it tells both note name and frequency.
Core also called Fundamental.
this plug C-tuner is freeware but unfortunatly i cant find it, it seems that the author has shut down his site..
But i did a little research and found it here, but you have to do some work your self, in the search column write C_Tuner.dll
http://www.webzila.com/?wz=dll
good luck

Some Info about C_Tuner
C_TUNER
This is a simple but very accurate instrument tuner.
At 44.1Khz:
Range: C-2 to D7 / 8Hz to about 5000Hz / Midi note 0 to 110
Accuracy: It can detect to an accuracy of +/-1 cent on the normal setting and of +/-0.1cent on the super accurate setting.
Timing: About half a second to show a steady reading.
Sensitivity: It will detect a -60db fundamental up to 2000Hz (~C6). The sensitivity reduces from that point until almost zero at 5000Hz.
And s0ft, Thanks for that handy link! very nice indeed

s0ft - it jumps like crazy if there are lots of notes involved, but you can get the general notes and frequencies at least.
its not meant for chords, you can press a chord and C_Tuner will go trough all the notes in that chord, with more or less luck.
it seems reliable and works for simple tasks
i like it... |
