depends is right.
i once did an entirely cpu based dj set, only cpu and/or cpu+collaborations.
the purpose was to promote an upcoming cpu event and let the people taste what's to come their way.

yea dude if the tracks manage to get the dancefloor crazy i dont have a problem even if the Dj plays the entire album of an artist
but then agina these days very few albums have all killer tracks

I find it dull and boring but then again I'm a dj. I don't think people on the dancefloor care much either way. With full-on it almost always sounds the same anyway, heheh..

good point basilisk..
well, i'd say that 4-5 tracks of the same artists is kinda pushing it, unless your talking about all the side projects an artist can have.. I'd play up to 3 tracks from the same artist in a set, mainly because i like to play different sounds in a set.. but then again, it depends on the purpose of the set.. and on the artists tracks.. some tracks by the same artist sound so different that only the people who know will realise it...
Play what you want.. people just like to find things to complain about anyways.. hehehe

If the tracks are good, and the Dj knows when to put them, It's fine with me |

Hey my freind..
Good question..
I can say to this topic that i was last weekend on the shivamoon party and antaro played at least 4-5 tracks from eskimo that were rel at the last time.. I like the tracks a lot but i found it very boring because when i go to party i want listen to different and new sound.. That is my opinion!

I think a dj could play a really good track a couple of times and ppl like it, but IMO a really good Dj makes ppl dance and go crazy with out repeating a track in their set.... |

i think it can be done well like most things in life, a similar palette of sounds being played creatively and artistically can be fantastic over the course of a set. for example as surrender was saying with his cpu set. . .throughout the set one hears the creative destruction of nomad, absolum, and cpu but it was done in such a way that keeps the dancefloor shaking. . .the repition of sounds was meditative. in the right hands there should be no problem with this. . .i wouldnt mind hearing a set of saikopod and koxbox sometime for example. or neuromotor
