I´m now studiyng in SAE Amsterdam Still a lot to go but I´m quite happy about it so far...

My opinion...this a a course for someone who wants to pursue an audio carrer, as an engineer for tv, radio, live performances, band recordings, masterings, etc...

If all you want is to make some electronic music, I think you could spend your time and money in a diferent way...

And also, as some ppl said in here, if u want a job in the audio industry, there is a lot of competition so you really must have good grades and be one of the best... So just go for it if you really know what you´re getting into...
There is a lot of maths and theory involved that really has no interest for some people...a lot of people aren´t expecting this and quit the course...

Also, SAE is very well reputated in the area, so if what you want is a job, it might be the best place due to its already built reputation in the audio industry all across the world.

Someone also told here that you learn more serving coffes in a studio that studiyng at SAE, thats really not true, and I have actually had some internships in some studios, by far I´m learning a lot more in SAE. But if you´re not into recordidng bands, practical stuff like what each cable and microphone does and how to position them, etc, and you just wanna make some tracks, then SAE is definetelly not for you.

Furthermore, SAE is a BIG corporation and might be a good source for future contacts for anyone wanting to get into the industry (for this reason also school location may be quite important).

In 2005 SAE Group actually purchased AMS Neve! Neve now belongs to SAE and is now showing, testing and getting feedback of their products around the world directly to SAE students. In december we had the oportunity the experience the NEVE 88D and play with it at first hand, give feedback and opinions about it etc. Now this kind of oportunities you don´t get everywhere... Neve 88D is yet not still in the market, due to be out in March this year, as the world top music/cinema digital console...wooahh was that a monster!

Also, as of 2005, SAE and Digidesign have joined in a collaboration, and all SAE Institutes became "Digidesign Sponsored Schools". This means that in the end of the course not only you get the SAE Diploma, you also get the internationally recognized "Digi 101 Certification" wich might come in handy when you´re looking for work...

SAE also owns Studios 301 (http://www.301.com.au/), one of the leading Studio groups in the World, with huge studio facilities in Australia, Sweden and Germany.

Ok,just wanted to express my opinion, . If you just want to make some tunes, grab a book and learn your sequencer from inside out, and spend your money in some nice equipment...if you really want to be one more engineer in the world trying to get a job then SAE might be the place for you, but be prepared to work hard and give your best if you want to get anywhere

boomz
