I´m currently a student at SAE in Stockholm. I´m finished with audio engineering diploma in Mars... So what can I say except great course! I have learnd alot since I started and I think that my money are well spent.
I would be very careful to compare SAE in 1997 etc with SAE 2005! They make improvements every year!
BTW my teachers dont read from books they are great sources! not amatures... Sound engineering is not about making some full-on in a cracked version of reason or frutyloops. Its a profession!
Bad arguments like "read a book buy some buy gear" is totally dumb! sound engieers that worked as engineers for 15 years and attends on SAE courses always get amazed hove much they didnt know...
You dont get a degree in something you learn on the internet thats it.. |

i am currently in SAE india.. its pretty shitty here .. but i think for ppl who are looking at sound engineering as a career option then SAE is good idea.. specially the ones in australia or maybe amsterdam.. if ur looking to make trance.. then maybe u could go for the electronice music production course at SAE or better still buy some decent gear n start experimenting..
IMHO a lil education never killed anybody.... (but i dont take chances )

now comes the digital where they'll teach u the basics of comp as in ram and shit but the main part starts from here for people who r into psy production MIDI yes my dear friend u heard it rite MIDI they teach all about it then cubase and all well its more of a practical now im leraning MIDI and more 6 months to go for me
rest is ur own personal research how well u understand a module the course is very good and very close to music production i guess before we get into full on production the basics should be clear...

If your budget allows you to study abroad than go ahead. But do you think that anybody will welcome you in Israel with wide open arms? Even with a diploma from SAE or Berkley?
It would be better to find a job abroad as well.

just remembr that if u study in israel u pay much less, BUT!!!, u get what u pay for.
im studying sound in emek-hayarden collage in israel and we dont work on ssl's and top-notch gear like u would get in SAE, after talking 2 friends (1 in sae london one in berlin) i think im gonna leave the collage in israel and go learn with pro's even if it means going over the first year again. |

I'm sorry, it just doesn't sound too logical.
Do you have to learn to drive in Porshe to really know how to drive? Do you really need SSL and Neve Pre-Amps to know how to use consoles and how to do proper miking? Do you think that in Israel you'll have much opportunities to use those high end consoles? In most of Israeli studios having a standard Pro Tools gear is considered top notch. Not to diss it in anyway. Pro Tools should be good enough for almost everybody.
Again, if you have money and you intend to work and to live in London, New York, LA or Berlin than why not. But if you don't i fail to see what is so wrong with what they can give you at Sapir or Emek Ha Yarden?
Correct me if i'm wrong here...
And for me SAE is some sort of a dream as well, but so as Porshe.

hi pavel
u are right about the sae-porche thing, i agree. i should have rephrased better.
now... about the teachers, i havent heard bad thing about sae teachers but then again i havent heard bad thing about emek-hayrden teachers till i started learning there, and now that i have finished my first simester i can tell u that personally im not too pleased with the them and theyr "Atittude" for the students. maybe its just first simester talk and things will get better.
and yes i have a plan on moving to LA or NY after i finish the sound engenir diploma (havent dicided yet if ill finish here or go to NY) but anyway ill have to do the B.A in SAE if i plan on finding a good job in the stats |

realy loved your reply Pavel , its true but it's kind of way of living , to study what you love so much in the country you love with your freedom ... just thinking about it makes me feel happy.
but sure , in our metirial world , you can't do nothing without remember - money.
it's a problem , BIG one but till i'll win the lottery i think i;ll pass the porche or the sae for now....
audio schools here need to raise the level i think but after all we need to give them their credit

hello...
i've thought of starting at SAE to - and all in all, i've only heard good things about music learning schools - and since SAE is the best one in the world, i doubt that they lack potential...!
The price is, indeed, not low - but in time - it takes 5 years for a free music education and it takes 2 years for one you are paying for..
