idk whats really going on in this thread but...
I use Ableton for live sets, I guess it could be more accurately called 'real-time step sequencer manipulation, prearranged MIDI clip activation, and effect triggering'. The only pre-recorded sounds are one-shot samples, bassline and kick MIDI clips. Its certainly a lot of fun, whatever it is.
What do you expect one single person to be doing, writing every patch onstage, while playing every instrument's keyboards and drum pads? Id love to meet that ungodly megamutant with 100 arms and perfect rhythm, but since consensual reality isn't some kind of fever dream thats not likely.
I dont really care if my setup isn't 'live enough'. Its not all that different from what I do in the studio, just streamlined, instead of writing each sequence by hand note-by-note I tweak knobs that change note values and hit buttons that toggle step mutes or generate random sequence data. Sounds fine to me

it's the same topic all over again.
playing 'live' is always a matter of compromise. , that's a fact, you can't do everything live in psytrance (as in most of the EDM genres btw).
now, i think it's up to the artist. just do it the way you feel it, just be true to yourself..
Have a good time and share it with the crowd, that's all what matters at the end, even if you do it the 'space bar way'

with the exception of Erez noodling a few keys and a crew of session musician, i'm pretty sure IM is stereo track press play live. i didnt even watch the clip, but if Protonica is using ableton, its still more live than running stereo tracks in an arrange window..
anyway, i find in general its better just to do your own thing than spout of some negativity about someone else, as it never really achieves anything except making you look bad. have a nice day
