hi,some sound cards have a software switch for digital i/o ,consumer spdif or pro aes/ebu but the physical i/o is coaxial spdif and aes is xlr?if someone can tell me more about this ... thanks

As far as I know:

AES/EBU and S/PDIF are pretty much identical in terms of format, with the exception of a few flags. The physical specifications describe different connectors and line voltages for each format but data-wise, the two are broadly interchangeable.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

maybe the software switch change the line voltage but can be used with a standart coaxial s/pdif cable ?
