try putting a lower velocity to the first note of the rythm, i mean the one on the kick...

If it sounds good and kicks the rhythm along, leave it. People forget sometimes that you don't have to have every kick the same. We released a track a while ago (Silence, on Phantasm) that had a 2-bar kick loop with varying velocity, like:
BOM-BOM-BOM-BOM-bom-BOM-bom-BOM
Just make sure the kick always rides above everything else and you'll be fine.

If it sounds like it shouldn't be happening, change the other loops somehow so that the first beat is the same. Don't change the kick in this case.

In short - let you ears be your guide. Experiment sometimes!           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

you could try putting a compressor on your loop with a sidechain coming from your kick...
this will make sure your loop doesn't interfere with your kick & could give the loop a bit more groove at the same time
love & light           New Ajja album coming soon on Peak Records!

Mmmm. I have almost the same problem. I tried compressing the kick and bass together with sidechain and the first kick sounds louder and then it sounds ok as long as the kick and bass keeps playing. After they stop for a while, when they start again the same thing. First kick sounds louder.
