I remember using acidic products to clean contacts when i was in army. Stuff like vinegar. Although i'm not 100% sure.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

Coka-cola is rumored to get rid of rust, but im pretty sure its just a rumor.

be careful using liquids with your electronic equipment.           The IsraTrance MySpace Group:

lolol

when i was at school, once we had to clean an 02R, and our teacher picked this product, i'm sorry but i don't have a clue on the name, neither the shape of the bottle(!), that if i remember well was based on alcohol, but wasn't just pure alcohol was just based on, got it? (!)... the guy was nuts, he turns to the class and says
you should never do this...
imagine the 02R opened, and he just starts squirting the liquid on it!!
2 days later was working as new, the problem was on the faders, that weren't responding well when of automations... and here is an interesting story of my life <grin>

you mean Korg... i heard somewhere it may just have to do with the solder that needs to be replaced, not the components... though i'd try first a cleaning product ;/

cheers mate i found similar products to the one from the link above but they need painting over after the process is doen and it will be a shame to paint the jacks inputs.im looking for somthing a bit less hardcore without too much acidity.

First you should clean the contacts. There are some special contact cleaner sprays for this. Some of them have also some ..dont know what name its exactly.. additive inside to ensure a good, non corroding contact. Never use this contact cleaners on your faders or pots!!!! At a good sorted electronic store you should get this. Try to use it in a way that the liquid drops out again at the front and not going inside over the pcb boards.

Like WD40 for cars, but dont use this stuff, to much oil inside

The coca cola idea is imho not so good. We had a lot of keyboards where water, coffee, juice was spilled on, they survived more or less. One time coca cola and they where trashed...
The acid solution works also, you have to use thinned salt-acid (hope its same name in english). But you have to deactivate (wash,..) the acid at the right moment, otherwise it eats to much. And then you have so clean contacts that they sturt oxidating or to corrode in a very very short time. Would leave this part to the restauration pros
