Running a PA indoors for a psy party

I'm in charge of running the sound system tonight at an indoor psy party, we're gonna be playing house > full on psy > dark > full on.
It's not a big space and we're getting alot of mud in the lower mids and the upper mids aren't really represented.
I guess I am just wondering on people's experience with running large PA systems indoors.. The guy who runs the system uses it mainly for house and the EQ curve is kind of weird, but he insists on it and that the genre does not matter. He also insists compressing it until there is about -6db of gain reduction, which seems funny to me.. but it seems to 'glue' the house music together. thoughts?
Any frequencies that are known to be "problem frequencies"?

I does matter, don't listen to him!!! And don't over-compress either, it will simply kill your dynamic range, and sound worse.
Problem frequencies, depends on the place, where the standing waves occur and what your setup is, you need to be a bit more specific!

The music is already compressed enough!!! The compressor/limiter should be used as a means of preventing the DJs from overloading the system. |

You have 31 bands of graphic EQ? You should have, just play a tune you know sounds good, have a walk around the venue and EQ the rig, simple as that.
If some of the tunes sound shite, well, the DJs should have played better tunes innit.
