Ok I have this in mind allready for a very long time.
And it works. (I'm not saying my tracks are good )
Even I don't know what I want to make in the beginning, it's not that I have a clear view like "I want my track this way, sounding (for example) like Infected Mushroom" NO it's more like I like this sound of that artist and I try to make that sound aswel (the good you can get). To be honest, I think I never made a sound like "I want it like that and that's how it's going to be" mostly you begin making it with that tought, but you discover more things to get another or even better soundshape-idea (I have to admit, some artists make sounds you can't 'copy', but atleast try you'll learn a lot during this process). So I think in this way you will improve much faster
1. thru inspiration (listening to other artists, get the good part out of the tracks you like), listen enough to other music else you will be not really original and ppl won't like it enough
2. listen to the comments of other people, their vision is another vision and might help you getting better idea's
2. listen to your track like more than 1000 times and during listen carefully
3. Try to hear every sound you added in your track and say only bad things about it:
try to hear every single sample (hihats, snares, voices, backgroundsounds, percussion(loops), ...), vst (synths), effect (reeverb, flanger, phaser delay, eq., panning, volume, ...), ...
4. Never be happy with the result (because you think it's not good enough anymore)
5. Start a new track we're you will make every mistake you made in the previous one, better.
These are THE 5 melorix rules for making music
?before I forget:
one BAD THING is you get frustrated.
I hope I helped you frustrated fellows
