its one of the oldest string instruments in the world... and known to be very powerful for its meditative qualities
i've heard it on a number of occations and would really want to incorporate its sounds into psy.
the deal here is there are only a very few Rudra Veena gurus around and when i approached them for some sounds i realised it would come to me at a huge cost...
hmmm
is there any ways other than recording it live i could get the sound
i'd be very glad to know

yeah, those gurus are usually in it more for the money than the art... bloody velhacos...
i've no idea what type of instrument that is, can you point me a link to it?

Sorceress - I can imagine that these guru's would charge you a lot for a recording. If you look hard enough I'm sure you would find sampleable material - maybe in some old indian ragaas ? Then stretch it/cut it/copy it to suit your track

i am trying
i know i will find them
old ragas thing sounds good but then i will not be able to seperate tabla from the sounds...
plus it has eight diff strings it would be really nice if i could have samples of each of those too.

even the most remote instrument has been sampled in hundreds of ways...
going to the east to sample etnic instruments became a trend since the guitarrist of the beatles started his solo carerr in the beginning of the sixties...
today there's loads of sampled material out there in cd-roms, dvds, etc...
search through sample cd colection in the internet... many feature eastern and asiatic instruments... it wont be very hard to find something along the lines of what you want
another option is to buy the instrument you want to record and learn to play it

yes it is an expensive instrument coz just about three people in India make the instrument.
more resisit it as Radra Veena.
Rudra stands for Rakshas or Demon... so it is suppose to bring ill luck.

i like that ILL LUCK things like that because it usualy turn opposite,
since the receptor will have no function without opposite act which is opposame.
they way the instrument looks already very tempting to me. lets call those spirits...
