Hello to you all! I am new here.

I was wondering what the royalties and an advance for a full lenght album would be?

I understand that it can be very different depending how well known artist are. But, I wonder for a first time album when you only had a couple of releases on compilations?

would be great to get a general idea about what to expect so I don´t sell my music to cheap!

i would much rather settle for certain payment than xx% of each album sold but that's just me..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

well i don't know. someone once said something about 1000€ payment + royalties. then some other said that his album only sold something like 500 copies. so better for him if he would have taken say 1500€ payment and give label the right to all the rest.

As you said yourself it's depending on different things such as if you're a newcommer a novice and/or famous with hits ect ect.

The "normal" rule is a royalty around 12 - 20% (after deduction of all label expenses incl. your advance). But as I said it can be totally different and if you're good at selling your music you might get more or even less

Advance is a more complex thing. Don' expect to get much these days... Especially as a newcommer and be aware of teh labels that exploid kids and newcommers and don't pay any advance... Keep away from them.... Thye are not serious!

Good luck.

thanks for the answer Elysium!
I have been in contact with a label that seems to be interested and of what I heard should be good people!
Just wanted to have a better clue before we start talking business.

Thanks for the warning, I try to keep out from these bad labels, have a long list, so to speak with bad ones from my own and from other peoples experiences, don´t know if it is nice to post their names here though....

Well, it also depends on whether you want to sell the rights to the label.
You don't necessarily need to sell the rights, if you're a member of NCB for example you can just let the label buy the rights to manufacture certain amount of copies of your tracks.
This way you'll get all the money for mechanical royalties and possible radioplay yourself and you can also sell the rights to release the tracks to other parties.

Daf my friend usually the money for a debut album on an artist with just a couple of previous releases is around 1500 and 2000 euros plus royalties that are usually 16-18%.

This is what most of the psy labels offer in our days.

P.S Nectarios is right about PRS and other alike companies BUT before registering to such a company make sure to inform the label that is interested into your album and make sure that you know every detail before registering to such a company           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

Thanks for all answers, think I get the general idea of how much to expect.

For now, I hope that everything works out and I get to release the album!

if you have more to please do so! the more information on this, the better!

Thanks!

important is the fact that the label should pay the advance before you send the masters or with the date the label gets the masters. any games like getting the money after the release two weeks later or something else is mostly shit.
i personaly made bad experiences with it.

good luck!
