well.. wats the dimension of ur room..

find out the length.. if it meters than 344/2d

( d=dimention of the room)

then u will get ur standing wave.

if its in feet then then 1130/2d

that way u can find the stongest frequency in ur room.. and u can treat it..

but im not clear wat u wanna do with ur room..
if u wanna reduce the reflection then u need to have absorvers and diffusers on ur wall...

if its just for music production.. put ur book self on ur back wall which works as diffuser..

thick woolen carpet on ur floor.. for high frequency absortion..

place ur speakers in a distance so ur ears make equilatral tringle with two speakers.

avoid walls .. dont put one speaker far from the wall and another close.. both has to be on same distance from the walls

put every thing symetrically to ur room.. specially ur speakers..

if u wanna sound proof and and make ur walls absortive.. let me know.. ill wirte it down..

but for music production this will be enuff

snip with your fingers and you know the sound of your room. you can buy simple foam plastic pads, its not as expensive as professional ones and they work great too.

I have rolled the standart acoustic foam pads (2) to make them denser,in a tube shape that makes one hell of a Bass trap not so nice on site though ...

Auralex is overpriced IMO,a buddy of mine has bought a roominator 7** series and i dont hear much improvements than mine shity standart acoustic foam pads,i guess auralex is good to treat rooms with already good acoustic to make them even perfect ...
Musicstore also has some auralex type of foam with those geometrical shapes but white line brand and less expensive then auralex

well as Mantik suggested, try clapping in your room and see where the reverb is and treat it accordingly
you can also use like egg crates. but thats kinda ghetto lol           https://www.djjeto.com

this isnt true mate, since you are talking about the axial modes...width and height also apply, and you will get frequency reinforcement, however this is for an empty room as i have said previously, as soon as you fill your room up with shit, the frequency will change.

wrong again my friend, difussers increase the reflections but even them out more into diffuse field (hence diffusers)

100 hz sound wave is 3.43 m long, if you would like to absorb that you will have to have a foam absorber at least as thick as the quarter-wave length of the wave, which would almost be 1m thick absorbers....

the guy who asked the questions in the first place...as far as sound proofing goes, unless you would like to encase your room in dry walling with 120mm insulation foam in it then dont really bother about sound proofing

your main problem with your room is probably going to be around the 150 - 300 Hz region , so best to make yourself some DIY bass traps if you dont want to spend money.
