Btw...all the designs are fairly DIY, and shouldnt be to hard to put together...
Its alot cheaper than the commercial stuff out there...
Also i have the blueprint to make the famous RPG Skyline diffusor, i have checked one of these puppies in action, in a very well known South African mastering engineer's studio
... the Skyline diffusor is slightly harder to build tho but it is way cheaper than buying the real deal and work just as well
peace. |

do you want to completerly isolate the main studio area from the rest of the rooom....
you can look at this from two points of view...
give me the room dimensions
the actualaity of haveing drum kits and a piano in the room isnt a problem, because they are not going to effect the room acoustically, however if you want to isolate because you are recording those instruments and you dont want feedback from the control area, then best is to build yourself a drywall
egg boxs arent bad.... we have a shitload of them in our live room (you can buy them bulk new..its just a bitch to put up) however egg boxs will do little for sound insulation , but merely provide a very rough diffusion surface ...
so give me some mroe information about what you are trying to achieve...
the curtain idea isnt bad at all....tho a heavy stage/theatre curtain is the answer...
(wots dog blanket btw?)
if you dont want to record/isolate.... then dont worry about a partition and just work out what you need to do to the room to treat it so its acoustically good ( bigger rooms with good treatment) are better than smaller rooms with good treatment imho
give me more info
cheers for now |

ahhhh k
yeah i was wondering about the god blanket...like a dog blanket...hehe.....yeah i know what those are...i even googled it.
ok
yeah i would say if you covered the kit with dog blankets..., it would more than likely stop it from rattling....also make sure the snare and hihat are "locked", and then two heavy blankets should do the trick
if you wana test the theory take your duevet blanket and try....
same with the piano if it is making a noise (which i doubt right?)

figures if its right next to the drumkit...
for the piano...stick blankets into the back, so the backboard and strings cant move...why not dismantle the drumkit and stuff blankets into the hollows so the skins cant resonate....cos thats your basic problem i imagine and take down all the hats etc?
egg boxes will bot stop them rattling at all, and if your duvet doesnt work, i doubt a dog blanket would, a stage curtain would however....cos they are so heavy...but would be expensive.... |
