Roman Rai has been around since the very beginning of the Tribal Vision label, releasing a wide array of compilation tracks. This is not a full album but rather a collection of some of his recent work.
Within these 10 tracks, we get 3 songs in an alternative mix, something that will probably go down extremely well with the dj’s. On the other hand, this might not be of that much use to the average listener, although the versions are pretty different from each other.
Luckily the rmx’s are spread-out over the tracklist, so you can still listen to the whole album without getting bored.

Sometimes the emphasis is on “house” such as in the slow & seductive original mix of “Dancing in the Lights”, otherwise the vibe is more “electro” like in the minimax rmx of “Tokyo”. Every track builds up to a smooth flow except for #7 Shinkanzen which is more of a electro-breaks-experiment, a nice change from the more dancefloor material.

There are absolutely no psychedelic elements but the music is very progressive & rather melodic. The percussion stays in the background most of the time, providing variation but never taking the lead. Every layer is carefully added on top of the other, adding more bricks to wall of sound.
Dreamy & subtle sounds reminds me of ancient 90’s house-tracks, but also cutting edge club-beats that fit the current minimal-trend. It’s catchy but still classy.
Because of the low BPM (generally well below 130) & the sexy atmosphere, Roman’s music sounds very mature, almost majestic…

So all in all another tasty Tribal Vision-release, although certainly not everybody will call this “trance”…
Fav tracks are # 2-4-6-7-8.

You forgot the tracklist.

Here it is:

1. On the skyscraper
2. Dancing in the lights
3. All Together
4. Tokyo
5. Dancing in the lights (Solstice rmx)
6. Tokyo (Minimax rmx)
7. Shinkanzen
8. Ma Cherie
9. What do you keep inside? (feat. Taini Vocal mix)
10. What do you keep inside? (feat. Taini Dub mix)

Anyway, I don't really care much for this. I found this album to be a big disappointment after hearing some very strong tracks of him on compilations. Supposedly this is not his 'real' full album though, so maybe he'll give us something better when the real thing arrives?? All in all, for me this is a disappointment.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

i agree with acidhive, its a big dissapointment after classics like 'groove' and 'liquid'... i found roman artist with a lot of potential and i expect something bigger than this in the future

I have to hear it. Rai is pretty good on the comps. I am a little afraid of the dissappointment...

That's just the whole point here. Rai has far better singles out on compilations. The only track here I really like is Ma Cherie, but you can easily get that one on a compilation, try Progressive Goa Trance Vol. 4 on Yellow Sunshine Explosion. It's a double cd compiled by Slater, with all sorts of good proggy tracks on it. I sure hope his next 'big' album will be better than this one, this still dissappoints me.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment.
