good for drums by hand and slicing loops but cant find a real use in psy.

u can get a trigger finger for the drums and some more knobs exept the pads it offers.

everything else can be done in ur pc easier and faster.

u didnt mention the price u getting it?

@orange:
have u ever tried a mv ?

I sold my Logic Pro 7 and my G5 some time ago (annoying sudden channel death issue), now I do everything with my MV. If you gonna like the MV way or not depends hardly on your way to work.

I also have experiences with most of the other sequencers available even in conjunction with Akais MPD or Steinberg Housten or Mackie Control, all sold...

If you are the sample guy who want a rock solid timing/machine the MV might be right. But beware, you might need a mixer with additional EQs

MV is definatly harder to use than Software since its limited.

Just my choice.

Have Fun!

sure possible.
I did psytrance for 8 years with Akai MPCseries, digital mixer external FX and synths only. Almost never switched on a computer. MV is a more powerfull sequencer than the MPC series.. so.. for sure its possible...

You will miss the "microediting" of audio though. it will be harder to do freaky audioslices'n'chop stuff which can easily be done with audiotracks and the scissor tool..

Furthermore you will possible need some quality outboard multifx for reverb and delay since most digital mixers only have two mediocre ones internal..

So its gonna have a long tail, since all others have in plugins you will need in real.. its expensive but its cool, and in the end everything is possible, just the way you get there will possibly be different.. not neccessairily longer, since if you think of all the software prolems and crashes you will miss...

Another thing to consider: Use the Computer as a Virtual Effect and Synth rack. Sequence externally, Mix externally, but connect the computer to the FX sends of the mixer and back.. if you have a good computer and a really good soundcard and can run it with like 2ms latency you can do it with a software like "VSTACK" which is just a simple host for VST plugins..

I find editing Audio with my MV 'now' much more easier than on a Computer. The VGA visualisation and the Hardware Knowbs to Zoom IN/OUT, Jump to Sample Start/ Stop, makes the job pretty easy. You even have a Hardware Knob for Clipboard functions. So you can copy paste one long sample to 3 Pads and adjust the section and be able to play the sample instantly from the pads. Kinds different workflow than on a Computer and you have to be very patient until anything works organic and you have internalised the MV "licks", but *fun* Some love it, some throw away the machine and go for Fruityloops instead.
