get a computer audio interface with midi control, and a program that can talk to the gear, then it should be pretty easy to get the patterns off the 303 and in to your computer           G+ - Army Collective - Kontakt Recordings

Man! Right now i have almost the same problem!

But i own MC-505. And i have made 2 tracks fully on it already )

But that damn bulk dump! I have tried i think all the combinations with routing in Cubase, and i can't make it (

Roland's manual doesn't say much. I think the problem is to properly rout everything in Cubase (i use SX-2) but i can't find it (( (never used Cubase before)

Thank you very much! I didn't know there's a software editor for the 505 thing... suppose it should be mega-useful but unfortunately the download page says: Sorry... but the website you are looking for is no longer available on Tripod.

will try to find it now...

LiquidMetal, you might find this one interesting too.

There's mc-303 editor too in that soft:

in fact there are tons of editors for different synths, some even quite new. however the soft is commercial.... and in my opinion quite expensive.

and if all of that doesn't work, just record a midi-file in ur sequencer, and cut and paste it like u want in there... I hope it can send the midi-data that the song uses through ur midi-out. If it all stays inside the machine, this won't work.

you can do that, you can record your MIDI info into a Hardware or Software sequencer, or you can use the system MIDI dump, on the 303, but the 303 doesn't like computers, but the 505 talks to computers very nicely.

But word to the wise, those hitsquad links don't work....does anyone have a copy of the 505 editor?

Well, with some googling I actually found it! There you have it!

I hope it is the correct one.

texmex, thank you for your link, i have found the MC-505 Editor there and this would be the happy end of all the story if not the problem with transfering SysEx once again.

This time it's about the checksum error not allowing to send data to 505 (not sure if it's being got correctly by the editor btw).

Well maybe this one http://www.squest.com/Windows/Instruments/mc-505/index.html is the last hope but it seems strange: 505's being used for years... what they use for correct sysex i wonder ??
(on another forum they told me cubase does really not friendly with sysex).

Hi,

well I´m shure you can record patterns but I don´t know about songs..
might be the same.. try it out..

if not, you can still arrange the patterns, once you have all recorded.

303 Midi OUT -> Computer Midi IN
(only)

MC-303
*set all the parts to "BOTH"
*set sync "INT"
*set SEQ OUT - ON
*Transmit - yes for all

Logic
*create a MIDI track and set input for - ALL Channels
*right-click the record button for sync options - set sequencer to ext (or wait note)

*Enable MIDI track for record
*Record-enable Logic (rec + pause)

Hit play at 303!
it should start the recording..

if the recording doesn´t move along the arrange length (running foward) check at Logic Sync options if SSP (Song Position Pointer) is enable..

After recording, split the event material recorded with "split by channel" function

Each sequence will go to it respective MIDI channel.

Maybe you´ll need to record the program change too...

Hope it works.. it´s been a long time but I guess this is it.

Let me know about it..
