Possibly the longest continuous musical composition ever released on any format, Somnium represents an ambient music landmark. Robert Rich has meticulously crafted a fresh studio interpretation of his notorious all-night Sleep Concerts, incorporating newly recorded electro-acoustic, electronic and environmental textures, with elements created for the original live events. Somnium guides the listener through an ever-changing dreamscape, with levels of subtle detail that reward both active attention and background listening. Deep and sonorous, mysterious and diffuse, liquid and hypnogogic.

Standard DVD-video format, playable in all DVD players.
7 hours of nocturnal ambience from the inventor of Sleep Concerts.           Music may not take us to the Moon or let us live forever, but as we enter trough the doors it is opening before us, we find things far beyond our everyday experiences..

Im listening to Robert rich - 'rain forest' right now... one great ambient artist, his music takes you into a different sphere, great dreamscapes... I would be looking forward to 'somnium'

Robert Rich is indeed, a great artist - very creative. I am trying to get Somnium for quite some time and finds none.

By the way, somnium fits into one DVD thanks to the use of a special format which allow higher capacity, but disables fast-forward and rewind.

yeah but what's the need of fast forward in a piece of music like this?           --- open the doors and let the music flood in ---

Right, that's why this format was selected.

By the way, does anybody know where I can get Somnium? (in Israel, and not by internet order)

Thanks.

I think he try to reproduce the sleep concerts, & this is the only way for have 7h unstop music

The audio format is a bit special, DVD-V, track 1 & 3 full quality file, track 2 Dolby AC3 compression. No video time code or video track. That why is not possible to fast forward or reward. Your dvd player need the video time code for make this operation.

Cheers

for sure the ambient of rich is very rich, i saw him live once and i must say its pure ambient. But the album i prefer from him so far sounds more acoustic ; ''temple of the invisible''! I played a sample in a set and it mixed just fine

I also bought this very special piece of music now, because I got very curious from the descriptions of the background of it. Even so I am not so much into ambient, I must admit that this is somehow genious, because it`s not only music ... I specialy like Part III of it ... great atmospheres ,,,
