 MEDITRONICA – PRESS RELEASE

 title: Meditronica
 label: RareNoise Records
 release date: 08/06/09
 format: CD Artist Album
 cat no./distr.: RNR001/

MEDITRONICA is a rich and tasty stew of Mediterranean influenced Dub Electronica.
Skillfully woven together by sound wizards Ashtech and Polcari, it features an impressive pedigree of artists involved with the project.

Ashtech is a producer, bassist and solo artist. In 2007, he released his debut solo album 'Walkin’ Target'. Produced in London by dub maestro Gaudi for Canadian label Interchill Records, the album included vocals by Cheshire Cat from Leftfield. An edgier and more song based work of urban dub than Meditronica; it was well received, with airplay from Pathaan on the BBC Asian Network, On The Wire (BBC Radio Lancashire), Mixmaster Morris and Radio Reverb and press coverage in Touch Magazine, Pitchfork and One Week To Live. Ashtech has played live all over the world and in the UK at Waveform, Electric Picnic, Glade and venues such as The Big Chill House and Inspiral Lounge.

Polcari is a keyboard player, composer, and producer. He has worked with a wealth of
artists including Adrian Sherwood, Bill Laswell, Temple Of Sound, Zion Train, Horace Andy and Gaudi.

Hailing from Brooklyn, Dub Gabriel is one of the key players in the Dub music scene in
America, and has performed all over the US, Europe and China. He has worked with Meat
Beat Manifesto, Dr. Israel, Mad Scientist, Michael Stipe and countless others. His last
record, “Bass Jihad” (Azra Records) received radio airplay in over 600 radio stations
worldwide and reached the top 10 CMJ World Music radio charts in America, where it stayed for over 2 months.

Eraldo Bernocchi is a guitarist, sound designer and producer. He has worked extensively with international artists such as Thomas Fehlmann, Nils Petter Molvaer, Harold Budd, Bill Laswell and Mick Harris.

Vocalist Raiz, the former frontman of Naples act Almamegretta, has collaborated with many
artists, including Massive Attack, Leftfield, Adrian Sherwood, Gaudi, Eraldo Bernocchi, Bill Laswell, Stewart Copeland and Zion Train. Almamegretta became very popular, doing did
remix work for Massive Attack and Adrian Sherwood, who remixed their album 'Sanacore'.

RareNoise is a new music company based in London, operating as a record label and music production house. It's experimental, it's different, and it transcends music boundaries.
Their output, as one of their artists Bill Laswell says, is 'Collision Music', that is, projects sitting at the crossroads of genres. It encompasses guitar based, ambient, dub and electronica music and mixed media/audio visual aspects in its releases. Stay tuned!

Awesome! I was listening to the Meditronica stuff on their myspace page the other day. I really liked it.

Anything with Ashtech and Eraldo Bernocchi is going to be good methinks!

The Laswell link excites me too. All I used to do was listen to Laswell.... glad I diversified th.
