if you got a IEEE1394 connection, why would you want to buy a pci-card with FW connection?
What matters is if the chipset-manufacturer is recommended by your soundcard-manufacturer, some have problems some don´t. Never had any issues with and i tried many chipsets.

basically, to use the multiface, you need an adapter...
the multiface is not firewire, it use a special cardbus..
for desktop you can use either a pci or pci express cardbus (which you need to get from rme)
cheers

My bad i mixed it all up, i thought of the fireface IEEE1394 soundscard. Kids never start replying to forum threads unless you had your first cup of steaming hot Latte.
